Description:

THIS SWAP IS CREATED IN HONOR OF JULY-NATIONAL ZINE MONTH

I am sooooo interested in zine making and seeing how other folks make their zines. I have a friend who is very interested in zinemaking. I thought it would be nice to have a zine kit that I could give her that would be self explanatory and give her the basic supplies to create her first zine. I plan to keep 1 kit and give the other one to my friend. You may give one or both away.... or keep them both!

For this swap you will create 2 Do it Yourself zine kits (1 for each partner).

In each Kit you need to include:

1-Basic instructions on zine making -

here is a great article that you could print-http://rookiemag.com/2012/05/how-to-make-a-zine/

2-A sample zine or two (may be yours or others zines)

3- Plus.....2 or more mini zine templates already cut and folded (1 plain copy paper and 1 patterned paper)

4- Pick five items from the list below to include in the kit

-1 black pen/ thin sharpie

-1 quarter page sized zine template (12 pages)

-paper scraps

-colored pencils or markers

-ephemera

-washi tape or deco tape

-rubber or acrylic stamp

-ink pad

-background paper (may be photocopied, ideas-photocopies of envelope interiors or stamped/collaged master boards)

-binding materials

--a fun list of zine topic/theme ideas (could be in a letter, a notebook, cut strips inside a snack sized baggie, a zine themed around zine ideas)

-mini composition notebook or other notepad for brainstorming

-1 sheet high quality flat stickers (not teacher reward type)

When mailing be sure the envelope is padded OR the envelope is one of those manila type mailing envelopes. Kit contents should be placed INSIDE a Ziploc type clear bag inside the outer mailing envelope.

Must have at least a 4.95 rating to join. If you have other ideas of things to include please leave a comment and I can revise the list.

@snout I got your message so I decided to go ahead and create this swap in our group. Please let me know if you have any ideas of other things that could be added to the list of options.

Awesome! This is a great swap!

I'm hoping we can really celebrate this month! I have a few other ideas I will post soon. ;)

I love this swap idea, however, I'm on vacation so won't be able to participate. PLEASE do another one after the beginning of August and I'm more-than in! (I also love that you have two swap partners so you get lots of new ideas!)

@ReaderChris that sounds good to me. Please remind me in August!

I was gonna join the public one but I'll join this group one instead!

@KristinCali sounds good. We need some extra folks to join this swap! Thanks!

Does the interior package have to be ziplock or would it be okay to pack it in something else as long as there is a separate wrapping?

Something else is fine. Basically something to contain it when removed from the mailing package.
