Description:

Another requested swap: fabric postcards! This one will give you an opportunity to create using fabric selvages (the printed edge of fabric).

You will make and send one 4" x 6" fabric postcard to your partner. The postcard must be mailed naked (not in an envelope), and must contain some element that was created using fabric selvages. Do not send a postcard with just rows of selvages! Use your selvages to make a little house, or flower, or tree, or a spool of thread, or anything else you can think of. You may add other design elements (buttons, embroidery, etc.) but this is optional and not mandatory.

Basic construction techniques can be found in the following tutorials:

If you keep your card under 1/4" thick, you should be able to mail at the regular postcard rate. If you're nervous about mailing it, have it hand cancelled so it won't go through the postal machine.

  • Fabrics and design are sender's choice.
  • Send on time.
  • Rate promptly and accurately.
  • Communicate if there are problems.

Edited - moved the sign-up and send-by dates to September.

Discussion

I moved this swap into September, due to significant end-of-August conflicts with my personal schedule. No one was signed up for the swap at the time of editing.
