Description:

Here's an easy quilt block that even beginning quilters can make. All you need are lot of fabric scraps, a sewing machine, and the ability to sew in a straight line. :)

  • You will make four 9 1/2" foundation pieced string blocks.
  • Cotton fabrics only, please. No silk, satin, etc. Use lots of different colors to get a scrappy look.
  • Please use fabric for your foundation, not paper. I recommend starting with a 10" foundation square and trimming it down to 9 1/2" after you have all your strips sewn on to it.
  • Send two blocks to each partner, with 4 extra fabric strips that are each at least 12" long.

  • Send on time.
  • Rate promptly and accurately.
  • Communicate with your partner(s) and me if there are problems.

This will be a monthly swap. After six months, you will have enough blocks to make a child's quilt. Twelve month's worth of blocks will be enough to make a large lap quilt, or a twin quilt if you add borders.
