Description:

I'm very intrigued by these decks of cards that have been altered and made into small works of art, each containing some directive or inspirational message. For this swap, we will each make 4 cards. They will made in mixed media style, keeping in mind, that while we don't want them too chunky, some embellishment is definitely nice. On each of your cards, add an inspirational, uplifting quote to your design. For this first swap, we will stick to 4 cards and see how that goes. For subsequent swaps, we may make more, we will see. Use regular size playing cards as a base and add paint, collage, fibers, charms, washi tape, or whatever moves you.

There are lots of various ideas and tutorials online..I will provide some links as I find them.

Lets have some fun and be inspired!

I will be checking each participant for ratings, comments, etc before I assign partners.

A few years ago I hosted a group swap where we made something like 24 inspiration cards this size, punched a hole with grommet and put them on a ball chain you can buy at the local craft store. it was a work of art for sure and a large undertaking to make so many but what blessings we've each received from our cards which I continue to use by the way...They are a lovely set and reminder that we are never alone in life and that we can look to these cards for inspiration in our daily lives. I hope maybe when you've finished the series of cards that you'll think of some way for them to be bound together so they are easily accessible to the owner! Lovely swap and thanks for hosting. Looking forward to it.

Thank you @slewis234 I have seen photos of them when they are bound by rings.. They certainly look beautiful! My plan is to have enough rounds to complete a 52 card deck.. I'm trying to do it a few at a time as I don't want to overwhelm anyone (myself included) with either the work or the postage! :) thank you for joining! :)

Do the card backs or any part of the card fronts need to be showing? Or can we cover everything up and just use the card as a base?

SFreer 02/15/2014 #

You can absolutely cover the whole card.. It's only a base. :)

I sure hope more people sign up! Gonna be a fun swap! :)
