Description:

One of the most important things to do when you start off swapping here on Swapbot is to (a) make sure you have a well-filled profile with lots of your interests, likes, and dislikes, and to (b) learn to read the profile of your partner for every swap.

For this swap, you'll be doing both of these.

First, list at least ten things that you LIKE on your profile, and at least five things that you DISLIKE on your profile.

Then, send your partner something that you think they might like based on what their profile says. For example, if your partner says they love the color blue, but that they hate dogs, you should send them a blue notecard but NOT a blue notecard with a dog on the front. Just because they might like one aspect of it, you shouldn't assume that will cancel out something they don't like. You should try to find something they will like, and avoid all things they don't like.

That being said, no one likes a swapper who comes across as difficult to please. If you say something like, I hate all colors except for the color red, that's a sure sign of someone who is hard to please, and therefore, hard to swap with.

So are we all clear on what to do? 1. List ten likes and five dislikes somewhere on your profile. 2. Send your partner something you think they would like according to their profile, avoiding all of their dislikes. This can be anything at all that you think they'd like.

When you go to rate your partner, make sure to look and see if they have their likes and dislikes on their profile. Have fun and happy swapping! :)

Great idea! Is there any sort of a dollar value or guideline based on that type of thing?

Hollycarole92 03/29/2014 #

@Eponita Nope, it can be anything, pretty much. The main idea is just to help newbies learn to be good profile readers. ;)

Participants: Please note that in swaps with no dollar value given, you take a risk that you will receive something that is of lesser value than what you sent. If you send a $5 nail polish (and by doing so, you make your partner happy) and you are thrilled to receive a $1 postcard to add to your collection, then go for it!

I must admit I'm worried by a swap with such open parameters.

@TC Thank you very much for adding that, it's an excellent point!
