Description:

IsadoraWing has graciously agreed to let me continue on with her swap idea.

From IsadoraWing's original swap...."The object of this postcard game is simple: I will give an obscure, strange word from the more unused parts of the English language and you will draw an illustration of what you think it means on a blank postcard or blank greeting card without looking it up.

For example, if the word was "Kenspeckle", what would you draw? I might doodle a freckled Ken doll or perhaps a man named Ken speckling a canvas with paint.
Or let's say the word was "Smellfungus". You could go with the immediate vision of a mushroom with stink waves coming off it or perhaps a person very happily sniffing his feet. Mm-mm!

The previous words have been: venustation, cataglottism, nubivagant, thalassophilous, apanthropinization, and snickersnee. To see what others have drawn for those, click here.

There's no wrong way to portray the word because you'll be illustrating it without looking it up first. On the back of the card, explain your thought process and how you came to the drawing that you did. As long as you receive a card with an image that was handmade and its corresponding explanation, you should rate a 5. You do not have to be a good artist; just a sense of humor and fun is required!

After you've made your card, you can look up what it means and have a laugh. It will be fun to see what your partner comes up with - maybe you will have had the same idea!

After sign-ups are complete, I will email out and post below the word that you will draw. You can use any kind of method to portray this word as long as the result is handmade, so collage and mixed-media are fine and dandy."

Have fun with this swap.

The word is Pentagmist. Remember, if you don't know the word, don't look it up before drawing.

So after I made my card I looked it up. Apparently the internet denies its existence as a real word...is there a typo or something? It kept asking if I meant polygamist...

I marked it sent today (Saturday), but the postmark will probably read Monday. I put it in the mail today, but the mailman won't get it until Monday, then it'll probably go out Tuesday.

Same here @PrairieKitten

Yes, it is a word I found in a rare word site that @IsadoraWing shared with me. But I can also pick another word, or give you another word, that is more known if you would like. I'm easy ;D

Pentagamist defined as somebody who is or has been married 5 times. Who knew. ;D
