Description:

This swap is for those of us who LOVE to swap, and particularly helpful to those of us who like to do flat mail swaps. It's also newbie-friendly, and I will angel if necessary. You must have a 4.9 rating or higher (or no ratings) to participate. This time, for the second swap, we'll each have two partners! :)

As a profile surprise, a lovely lady made me a bunch of personalized swap cards. I was enamored. Swap cards are on cardstock, usually about 2 X 4 inches (or alternatively you can make them ATC sized at 2.5"X3.5") and include a place for the name of the swap, your name, and your partner's name so that they can be sure to remember to rate you. Since the backs are blank, you can also use them to write a little note to your partner. I love to include them in all of my swaps.

My only problem is that I haven't been able to use many of the adorably decorated cards since they have parts that stick up/out and I do primarily flat mail swaps and don't want to pay postage for non-machinable items. In contrast, if you have a totally flat swap card, you can include it in any type of swap!

Here are the requirements:

  1. You will have two partners for this swap

  2. For this swap, you will choose 3 of the themes in the list below for your partner to make and decorate personalized swap cards for you. This way, you're sure to get something you'll enjoy and use. Please post your choices in the comments below before the swap begins.

  3. You will make each of your partners 1 dozen swap cards

  4. The swap cards must be flat mail friendly-- so no embellishments which might create a lump in the envelope and make it non-machinable

  5. Swap cards will be either 2X4 inches or ATC sized (2.5" X 3.5"), made out of cardstock, include the categories (in any order): Name of swap: (leave blank) To: (leave blank) From: (include your partner's swapbot name, or leave this blank), and be blank on the back so that your partner can use it to leave a note if desired

  6. You will decorate each of the swap cards using 1, 2, or all 3 categories chosen by your partner. You will do this for each of your two partners. Please note: I've added extra time to create and send the cards since we have two partners each this time, but they must be finished and sent by July 31st, so please be sure you're able to do it in that amount of time before signing up. Thanks!

  7. When you receive your cards, as long as they meet the above requirements (are flat mail friendly, in a theme you chose, and include spaces for the swap name, your swapbot name, and your future swap partner's name), you should rate your partner a 5. Hearts are, of course, at your discretion.

Please note: this is a type 3 swap because of the crafting component. Feel free to get as creative as you like with your partner's theme(s), as long as you keep it flat!

If this swap gets a positive response, I'll keep on hosting with two partners each. If you'd prefer going back to one partner, please let me know in the comments section. Thanks! :)

Chevron <3, Owls, and books Please!

Is there a reason they must be 2x4? I prefer to make mine business card size or ATC size.

SmileyFangs 07/17/2014 #

Steampunk, kawaii, and zentangle. Thank you <3

phillaine 07/17/2014 #

@thebragal If you have a strong preference to make them ATC size, it's fine. The 2"X4" guideline has worked well, but ATC size would work well, too. I'll add that as an option in the swap. Thanks for your feedback. Business card size is getting a little small to write a note on the back, so I'd rather keep it to the two options. I hope that works for you!
What's also nice about the 2 X 4 inch size is that you can get 18 cards out of one sheet of 12 X 12 cardstock without any waste left over.

Ocean,maps, and travel. Thank you!

Is it still okay to make them on the computer and print them off??

phillaine 07/19/2014 #

@jesslynne of course-- digital art is one means of creative decorating. :) As long as they're in the theme(s) your partners choose, and made with care, any kind of decoration works! Thanks for asking.

I love that so far everyone has such a variety of themes! This is going to be fun. :)
