I'm not a slacker, but I'm always up for making and receiving homemade gifts! :P

deedeenet 01/26/2007 #

This was a lot of fun to read. Great idea, and good luck to all of you flakes out there with good intentions but life sometimes gets in the way! Maybe I'll sign up just to see what happens!

user5919 01/26/2007 #

This is my first swap so I am really in the dark. This is number one for me, I make homemade goat's milk soap and dead sea bath salts. What is the next step

user5930 01/27/2007 #

I'm new to swap-bot so I'm a bit lost but this looks like fun. I'd like to try it.

Susi 01/27/2007 #

LOL, this swap is way too funny, just for that I'll sign up! susi

Susi 01/27/2007 #

i gotta drop because it's for a gift, not just an atc or something that... sorry... my ratings are ok anyway... but have fun, i meant it when I said it was way too funny! susi

simplysarah 01/27/2007 #

I hope this will be fun and funny...

I just secretly wonder sometimes, how long one bad rating affects someone.... which is why i made this swap.... in theory one can raise their swap rating right????

simplysarah 01/27/2007 #

Sheryle~~~

when the sign ups are over, when you go into YOUR SWAPS one of the options at the top of the swap will be SEE YOUR PARTNERS click on that and you will see your partners names and addys, then also if you click on their name you should be able to see their profiles... after sign ups if you need help ask....

user5064 01/27/2007 #

Simply sarah My first two swaps the partners have not yet received and gave me a 1 rating. I REALLY did sent the stuff and in plenty of time but one is still waiting and it has been a month. VERY disappointing because now I am being dropped from swaps I wanted to participate in. My remoteness where I live and length of time for Canadian mail is to blame. I hope this swap really does up my ratings. It has been a real bummer!

simplysarah 01/28/2007 #

Hey everybody.... Im am super excited about this swap.... I don't really care if your ratings are good or bad... Like many have heard me say...

life happens. sometimes you might not
send, sometimes it doesnt get there,
and really sometimes ya flake... but mostly
      miscommunication is chaos...
user5628 01/29/2007 #

I hope this is an international swap, I have just signed up and I am from New Zealand. It sounds like a lot of fun.

IRISNQUILTS 01/29/2007 #

OK . . so I'm a quilter and let's say I didn't complete a block . . may I complete the block and send that? So they can frame it make it into a pillow, etc.? This sounds like a hoot! and I'm in! I have many UFO's!

Baglady 01/29/2007 #

I really don't slack on trades but I love handmade things. Count me in!

TerryF 01/29/2007 #

Bushgirl: Also being in Canada, I know what you mean! I regularly get 1s because of the darned Post Office. And it is way too expensive to send most packages air mail. But don't give up and don't get discouraged. Living in the bush, you need to be able to do something like swapping! I have found that contacting the coordinators directly, as you have done here, to explain my situation helps - most have been very kind and generous and have been willing to let me join despite the 1s. After a while, they get to know that you are good for it. And eventually, your ratings will go up again as people receive your swaps and notice that they were postmarked by the deadline after all. Good luck! Tassy

TerryF 01/29/2007 #

I am not a slacker, but am going to join anyway!

TerryF 01/29/2007 #

"YOU WILL SEND 2 HOMEMADE ITEMS TO EACH OF YOUR 2 PARTNERS." Is this 2 items to 2 partners (total 4) or 1 item to 2 partners (total 2)?

user5064 01/29/2007 #

Tassy, Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I was really getting frustrated. Hope we get to swap with each other sooner or later. hugs

fairykiss 01/30/2007 #

I had a serious problem with my post office right around the holidays and a bunch of my mail was damaged so now I'm trying to play catch up and only joined one swap since then. I really would like to do this one (I think I have everything under control now).

One trick I have picked up however is to take pictures of what you send and either blog it or send it to the host or swap partner. That way there is no doubt that you did make the effort. Let's face it, sometimes the post isn't the best and being human there are going to be mistakes! :)

FunToScrap 01/30/2007 #

Not a slacker, yet.... :-) But I am new to swapping and this sounds GREAT!!! I love and have homemade gifts and love to receive them.

FunToScrap 01/30/2007 #

I have the same question as Tassy: "YOU WILL SEND 2 HOMEMADE ITEMS TO EACH OF YOUR 2 PARTNERS." Is this 2 items to 2 partners (total 4) or 1 item to 2 partners (total 2)?

Thanks for the clarification!

TerryF 01/30/2007 #

I have also emailed simply sarah twice with the question above but she won't see those emails unless she logs onto Swap-Bot anyway. I am going to assume that it is one item per partner.

user5064 01/30/2007 #

Tassy and FuntoScrap: the way I read it it is 2 items to 2 people, totalling 4 items.

IRISNQUILTS 01/30/2007 #

Ok . . so is it a total of 4 then? Is this the consenus? And since my question wasn't answered . . would anyone object to receiving a couple quilt blocks for pillows or framing? I try to experiment on a practice block prior to making a completed quilt or top. Well, I'm not a slacker but I'm in!

TerryF 01/31/2007 #

Since simplysarah hasn't answered any of our questions (she must be a slacker...LOL), I will go with 2 for 2.

irisnquilts: If you get me as a partner, quilt blocks are just fine!

IRISNQUILTS 01/31/2007 #

Ok . .I must be out to lunch! I didn't receive my partner list. Did anyone else? Or am I just the loser swapper!

fairykiss 01/31/2007 #

from what I understand the swap host now has to "activate" the swap or something like that. It means that the host has a chance to look over the list before the swap starts and ban those who do not make the cut. I guess it would help out on those who join the last hour or so, but it also means that if the host doesn't do it we have to wait for it to auto assign the list.

user5064 01/31/2007 #

OK, so this is just too funny. Maybe our host is a slacker!! or just flaky. he he he, Hey has anyone checked out Marina Machet profile. I don't think this young lady gets what this swap site is all about. Does any one have any comments on that. Anyways, I really don't care what I get in the mail, it is just fun to do and meet nice people like all of you! hugs

FunToScrap 02/ 1/2007 #

Well, bushgirl, I admit the 1.0 rating of Mariina is worrying, however, this is for slackers. :-)
Are we all taking a risk? Well, I hope everyone gets and sends something.

It's like doing those stupid chain letters/packages and you are careful to complete your end, but then get nothing in return. I did a potholder chain once, a sticker chain and a children's Golden Books - never got anything.

Quilt blocks are fine for me. I'll add them to my stack of quilt blocks wating patiently for a quilt or project to call home.

I may send some decorated scrapbook pages or borders... I think it will be fun to see the variety that comes out of this! :-)

fairykiss 02/ 1/2007 #

Marina Machet signed up for my swaps as well will no reply to email... being she lives in France maybe (hope) that mail is just slow??

I agree with Fun ToSccrap, this should be fun. There is nothing that I would turn my nose up at when it comes to getting something in the mail! I personally don't quilt or scrapbook, but maybe with something in front of me I might get inspired to try it out :)

simplysarah 02/ 1/2007 #

I am sorry I havent responded I havent been nline for a few days... okay.... the swap is a total of 4 items, so 2 to be sent to 2 partners. this should be fun... check to see your partners....

simplysarah 02/ 1/2007 #

and yeah... secretly I am definatly a slacker!!!

user5064 02/ 1/2007 #

Baglady7849 and Sheryle, I AM NO SLACKER!!!! Your parcels went out in the mail today. he he he

simplysarah 02/ 2/2007 #

just so you guys know.... I didnt exclude anyone on this swap... hope this one works out well....let me know if anybody flakes... mine got sent out this morning. the send date is a bit away just to make sure theres no excuses... Im sorry I was being a slacker I was out of town...

good luck!!!

simplysarah 02/ 2/2007 #

blondeattitude and aya rosen....

hope you like them!!! Please keep in mind that this is the slacker swap... I was trying to be funny not mean!!! but I know that if you dont know me you might think Im not so funny... enjoy.

drewzel 02/ 2/2007 #

Hi guys, Just been reading all the comments. I know this is the slacker swap, but I'd like to think no one would flake!

I have Marina Machet as one of my people to send to, and I just checked out her profile, the comments are quite disappointing. I know the mail can go missing from o/s, but all those no sends seems a bit of a pattern.

SimplySarah, could you please contact her and see if you get a response? Maybe she doesn't understand what swapping is about?

I'm thinking that I'm going to wait to see if Marina's partner receives her item from Marina, and if she does, then I'll post to Marina. If she doesn't send anything to her partner, I'll post my stuff to the poor partner that received nothing. I know that's not quite the swapping spirit, but I am not prepared to support dishonest people who just take and don't give. So I might be posting one of my items late.

Let me know what you think guys.

fairykiss 02/ 2/2007 #

I had to ban her from my swaps as well, it seems she also joined quite a few of them on here... every one I am in at least. Yet, when i tried to email her I got nothing so it seems funny that she logs on here to signup for swaps but can't email back??

TerryF 02/ 2/2007 #

Just my opinion, but I think we should keep in mind that when we signed up for this swap we all knew it was for slackers and so implicitly agreed to take the chance that we wouldn't receive some/all our swaps. That was the whole point of it. The upside is that it was also an opportunity for people who have a lot of one ratings for probably very legitimate reasons (such as illness) to get their ratings back up. And that's why I joined.

TerryF 02/ 2/2007 #

JennaPerry and irisnquilts, your swaps will be in the mail tomorrow. Please note that it can take about 4 weeks for mail to get to you from here (almost the Arctic Circle, according to our post office). Thx. Tassy

gooddog56 02/ 3/2007 #

Drewzel & Marina--I mailed your packages today, should take about 10 days...hope you like them! Kathy W gooddog56

user3512 02/ 3/2007 #

This promises to be lots of fun!

I do have a general question for all of you - what price range are you applying to what you send? I'm on a really tight budget at the moment (student living and all that), and I put a lot of care and craft into what I make but I'd feel bad if I sent something out that did not compare to what my partner sent out. Comments?

TerryF 02/ 3/2007 #

lovelylovely: There were no dollar guidelines given by the coordinator, so you are not obliged to spend a lot of money on this. Just something handmade is the only criterion. The four small items that I made cost under $5 in total for materials but would sell in stores (as handmades) for at least double that.

simplysarah 02/ 3/2007 #

hey guys.... let me know if you dont recieve... I have a plan for those who dont recieve from their partners but I cant tell you what it is...shhh. so email me with the contact swapbot thing or to my email if you dont recieve from your partner. hopefully no one will flake, but I am prepared for a few. drewzel if you want to wait to see if she actually sends to her partner first thats alright, but does she rate people??? no need to get a bad rating out of this...and I dont think we can fix them can we??? I understand not wanting to creat something great and then not even get a thanks i got it, or to know that her partner didnt get one... i will leave all that up to you...

everybody!!! good luck and keep me posted....

:) sarah

drewzel 02/ 3/2007 #

Thanks guys for the comments. I'll post mine to her on time and see what happens. I don't mind not getting thanks or ratings, but it annoys me that someone would take something but not send their partner anything! Sarah, I'm happy to send extra to anyone that misses out. cheers, steph

user5064 02/ 5/2007 #

Drewzel, I have to agree with you. I would not send her anything and wait then send the person that should have gotten something from her yours. I really do not believe that she understands this. I think she doesnt realize that she has to send stuff out. I personally think she is a scam. I know that this is a slackers swap, BUT, we are most of us, honest people and excuse me but come on. Obviously, she has not sent to anyone. My 2 cents worth anyways.

user5064 02/ 5/2007 #

OH ya, and one more thing. The poor girl has not once come on here to defend herself. Just noticed too that she has posted that she has sent. Ya RIGHT!! now that was sarcasm. lol

simplysarah 02/ 5/2007 #

drewzel... did you already send out??? i guess i didnt realize the whole picture here... if you didnt send yet, please follow your instinct and send to whoever??? her partner was...(how do i figure this one out?) let me know either way....

again

THANKS!

Marion--beautiful cards! Thank you! They came today...

Kathy

drewzel 02/ 7/2007 #

Hi Sarah, Haven't sent yet... All you have to do is look at the list of people in the swap, and click on her partners. it will have "receives from" and "sends to". If you want me to leave her out, you give me the name of her sends to person.

let me know what you'd like to do. :)

user5628 02/ 9/2007 #

Simply Sarah - received your package today and WOW what can I say - Simply Amazing. I just love the items you have sent. You are very talented!! and your work is very inspiring. You have definitely given me some 'food for thought'.

user5628 02/ 9/2007 #

I have also received another package but I am not too sure who it is from, I can't read the name on the envelope. I got a beautiful quilt block and a gorgeous pot holder. The quilt block will be framed and hung in my sewing room and the potholder will be added to my collection of 'don't touch - for display only' potholders I have hanging in my kitchen. Thank you so much to the sender, I just love my items.

fairykiss 02/14/2007 #

I don't know how long my internet is going to hold up so I thought I would leave a msg. I am in the middle of a blizzard which makes sending out impossible. I have my things made and ready to send out as soon a weather lets me :) sorry for the delay and thanks for understanding!!

on the other side, to the people who sent to me... I cannot get mail so if you send and are waiting on a response or rating please be patient because I'm sure it will get here soon and I will let you know.

IRISNQUILTS 02/15/2007 #

Simple Sarah & Blonde attitude . . I sent your packages quite sometime ago . . did you receive? I completed quilt blocks and I started a wedding gift for a gal and completed that for your two! I still have nothing . . . well it was a risk just as the post described! Well I hope you gals got your packages! irisnquilts aka Kim

IRISNQUILTS 02/15/2007 #

Okay blonde moment . . blondeattitude you did receive your package! Great makes me feel good! irisnquilts!

user5628 02/17/2007 #

Oh dear, I think I am a slacker! I was checking my swap book and realised I have mixed up some of my posting dates, I had this swap marked with the same date as another swap. My sincere apologies to my partners, these have gone out in todays mail (2/17). They have been sent International Air, so should arrive in about 4 days.

TerryF 02/19/2007 #

FunToScrap (I think it was you - you didn\'t put your Swap-Bot moniker anywhere on your package), I received your swap today: a Christmas stocking and snowman ornament, some buttons and some tea. Perfect! Thx! Tassy

TerryF 02/19/2007 #

FunToScrap, forgot to say that yes, it has been bonechillingly cold here for weeks, just like where you are. The tea is one of my favourites and will be put to good use mighty soon! Thx.

TerryF 02/23/2007 #

Forgot to mention that I posted a pic!

user960 02/28/2007 #

I'm a slacker! LOL. But I'm still sending my stuff -- Tassy, your package is going out today, and Jenna, I have an extra-special thing I'm working on to include in your package, so it'll go out even later, but it will still go out. :D

Geez, I really am a slacker. But I do send ... Can we have another slacker gift swap for habitual slackers? ;)

user960 03/ 2/2007 #

Drewzel -- got your pretty little bag and button! Thanks so much! I immediately put a bunch of my spindles into the bag, since it's the perfect size to hold them without them flopping around. I'll probably eventually stuff some fiber in with a single spindle and carry it around with me like that ... once I get to a point where I'm not doing eighteen projects at once and carrying a duffel bag sized thing to tote them all around. ;)

TerryF 03/ 7/2007 #

JeweledClaws, loved your gifts - thx! (Am having problems with the gallery but will try to post a picture.)

user960 03/ 9/2007 #

Glad you liked them ... yay! :D And I see the gallery behaved for you, so double yay! ;)
