Description:

Pocket letters are a new trend in craft making, but I think that even if you are not the crafty type, you can still assemble a pretty cool project with your photos. This is an idea I want to try really badly and I need other people to try as well.

Check this video for a crash course on pocket letters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-JkAD7OBX8.

You will need to prepare a pocket letter with photos for your partner. Most card trading pages have 9 pockets in them. They are fairly cheap.

All pockets need to have a photo. You can chose a theme for your pocket letter if you wish. You can add whatever you want to your photo and you can mount them on pretty paper if you wish. You will need to include a nice letter for your partner. The letter is a must.

If you wish to add extra items to your pocket letter, you should have items related to photography or maybe tea! It is optional.

If you need ideas for a theme or colour scheme, check your partners' profile.

This is a fun swap and should not bring you any stress. Enjoy creating and taking your photos to another dimension.

The sky is the limit!

I would join but this one would be expensive to post over seas so maybe you should have made it USA only.

Hey Col - Gale is hosting and she's in Canada! So physically impossible for her to host USA only swaps lol

Also pocket letter are fairly cheap to post. I had one with accessories and all sent to usa for 1.90$. The reason why postage is often expensive for people is the usage of bubble envelopes. You don't need one for this.

Sorry had no idea you was in Canada. Aletter post costs me $2.75 that is just flat mail this would mke it thicker then flt mail so last time I sent thick mail over seas cost me over $6 and that was a while back mail has gone up twice since then. Australin mail fair dearer then over that way, sorry.

I just started doing pl and had a photo pl in mind. If I have your permission I'd like to set up a USA swap. So your swap doesn't require goodies in back?

grstamping 04/29/2015 #

Instructions say that you can add goodies if you wish. That's what make pocket letters what they are. If a person choses to add extra, it should be photography related.

I was already working on this and didn't realize the pocket goodies had to be photo related. :(

I have sent two of these to The Netherlands with goodies in them, using the business size envelopes and the cost has been less then $3.00 each - I just make sure I use packing tape all around the envie to make sure it is strong. Fun Swap and what I am getting from it, is you do not even have to include goodies if you don't want to - right? Or you could have a couple of photo quotes and some print outs of cameras, etc. Have fun with this folks! ;)

I would love to join but doing another 9 pocket using my own photos I found making my photos small took away from the beauty of the picture. How are your pictures coming out when you print them smaller??

art3osb 05/13/2015 #

Get them printed out wallet size. Isn't a wallet 4X2? Add a scrapbook paper behind it. That is what I would do.

That's a good idea to print small instead of cutting. I am going to try both maybe and see what happens.
