Description:

Put a bug on it!

For this swap, you will send your partner one handmade flat item with a bug (insect) on it. Simple, right? Why yes, it is. The key word in this swap is “simple.” Try to create something simple and beautiful without a lot of fancy-pants bells and whistles. The focus here is quality over quantity.

Examples of items to swap include: postcards, notecards, ATCs, bookmarks, decorated envelopes, or whatever you’d like to make as long as it’s flat(ish) and fits in a standard envelope. You can use any materials you like, and the central image of the bug can be drawn, painted, stamped, punched/die-cut, or anything else, as long as it’s there. You can use a pretty bug, like a butterfly or ladybug, or a legit, all-business-all-the-time bug like an ant or a praying mantis. Your choice.

Please note: I’m just as opposed to sticker slapping as the next gal, but that doesn’t mean I support crafting snobbery. I feel like sometimes we get caught up in the pressure to create these multi-layered, multi-dimensional, multi-textured pieces that we secretly fear won’t be good enough. Whatever. Crafting and swapping are supposed to be fun. This is just an opportunity for swappers to create something simple and beautiful without all the pressure.

The condensed version: Create one flat item with a bug (insect) on it, done in a “simple” or “minimal” style and mail it to your partner by the deadline. It should be “flat” and qualify for one 49-cent stamp.

This swap is open anyone with well filled out profile—both newbies and experienced swappers—with no unexplained 1s or 3s. I will check profiles and ban documented flakers as I see fit. I will angel if necessary. Hopefully we’re all grown-ups here and there will be no flakers. Seriously, NO FLAKERS.

Happy swapping!

@Ir77 I know it is not necessary, but I have a favorite craft I love to do for these kind of swaps that will cost a bit more to mail. I do not expect my partner to do the same for me, but may I send something a bit bigger? It is still "flatish."

Hi ChrisAnne, It's up to you if you want to go beyond the requirements of the swap. As long as you meet the minimum requirements, you can send anything you like. :)
