Handmade Christmas Gift Swap: Keep the price around 5USD plus shipping. the gift can be anything handmade, check your partner’s profile if you like or suprise them with something you just love making.

Christmas-Swap: You send a Christmas present based on the likes of your partner in her/his profile. It can be handmade, or bought, 1 thing or more, there's no limit. Price should be between 15 and 20 Euro/Dollar (not including shipping).

Fabric Projects Kit Swap: Items to send: 2 FQs, 1 spool of thread to match, 1 yard of trim/ribbon to match, small baggie of buttons to match (minimum 8) and 2 printed instructions for projects.send. It can be as simple as finding the instructions online for a soft toy, or a pillow, apron, dishtowel. Copy the instructions out of a quilting book, mag, etc...

noel: It will be interesting to see if any of my "no send" partners also sign up for this! If they do, would you like to know?

i never received the swap for "lots of chocolate". I love milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is acceptable. NO unusual flavors or liquor filled please. (the 3 other swaps i never received were halloween related so that is of no importance right now)

Cute idea :-) I'm not signing up because I could get someone who wants a fairy to make up for a knitting or cd swap and I don't knit and don't make cd mixes. But I love the idea. Here's wishing the fairies follow-through! And thank you noel for coming up with a clever way to make-up for past disappointments.

I would love to sign up as I was sad to not receive fabric in the fabric, trim and candies swap or the fabric scrap bag swaps. I just want to make sure that no one new is going to be allowed to join. I hope that does not sound mean but how could you have never received stuff if you are new? Thanks.

Aly: It is possible to be new and not have received your very first swap if it is really recent and you have not yet been rated (some shall we say inconsiderate swappers don't acknowledge they have received anything or rate their partners). But I agree with you that that would be an unusual case. I would prefer that no newbies be allowed and hope noel will ban any that sign up. I intend to check this swap on February 19 just to make sure. That way I will be able to drop out if I see any newbies on the list. But I'm really hoping it won't come to that!

hi, ok so i will try to answer some very good questions.....

i will ban new users(meaning , new user = someone with no rating, this is the fairest way i can tell to think of, any suggestions?)

and i wanted to say, ....your fairy will send only as much as time and cash and skills will permit. meaning , just for an example.......you didnt get anything for a christmas swap, a knitting swap and a sock swap.... your fairy can make you a christmas gift, doesnt know how to knit....but wants to send you some yarn in lieu of a knitted project and the min. for the sock swap was 3 pairs...your fairy can send only 1 pair........

thats all good, even if they can send only one thing on the list.......this is basically a good faith swap:)

I'm not signing up because I'm still too new to not have experienced this yet---though I'm anxiously awaiting for items. So, I hope I don't experience not receiving anything too often. It just makes me sad to see people sign up because they want to receive, but don't send. :( I have been on other swapping sites before and have been on the no receiving end and well it sucks. And sure, life gets in the way, but at least have the courtesy to say hey=I can't commit at this time.

I know, tis better to give than to receive, but I know, for me personally I try to put in a lot of time into preparing a package for someone, not to mention the $$-but that's not so much the issue. It's doing something nice for others.

The saddest no-send for me was for my son, Kitt, who is 6. He never got the Santa's helper- Kids swap. That was supposed to be 7 small presents for him. I think it's worse when we disappoint the little ones.

As for me, I've only had 1 no-send to me in tons of swaps. Which I figure is a very good percent! So there are lots of good swappers out there! The only I didn't get was The Love Swap.

What a great idea!! I've luckily only had a few swaps that I did not receive out of the at least 30 that I have participated in. They are: 1. Purple ATC - make three purple atcs - any theme 2. Green swap - up to $15 of anything as long as they are the color green 3. Hello Kitty swap - I think this was $10 of anything Hello Kitty 4. Hostess Apron swap - make a hostess apron for your partner (I would need size large in an apron). There were two partners for this and I only received package from one partner.

Noel - just so you know - I do have one rating of "1" in my profile - the original package I sent my partner never showed up so I have sent a second package which is still in transit:) You can email me privately if you need more details:):)

I have only had one no send and it was for a cheap makeup swap. You send 5 $1 items of makeup. I like browns and greys for shadow, browns for lipstick, no blush, black eyeliner and mascara. Thanks to whoever sends this. Oh and if you send nail polish any darker shades will do. Please no bright reds.

What an awesome idea!!!! :) The cool thing about this swap (besides the fact that it is a wonderful exercise in kindness!) is that you really cannot anticipate what you may get. Hee! :D

I've had a few no sends:

• Greeting card swap (one of my partners). We were supposed to send 5 spare greeting cards - not written in and not holiday cards (just birthday, thank you, etc.)

• Colour Swap - one of my first swaps. Rather disappointing. I had asked for red and/or green items.

• One of my tea swaps - for an assortment of six tea bags.

• Sticker Sheet swap - 3 sheets of stickers.

Thankfully that's pretty much the extent of my negative experiences. There may have been another small swap or two but nothing worth worrying over (not that the tea or stickers were a huge let-down either).

Thanks in advance! I'm also looking forward to possible having to be creative with the partner I will get to send to since I don't knit or make ATCs. :)

This is a great idea - there were only two or three swaps so far where I never got anything:

1) Specialty threads - that's embroidery floss

2) Dry food swap - one hot drink, one dessert, one soup, one sauce. I was supposed to get something from Australia but it never showed up :-(

3) One of my three partners never sent me anything in the Free Samples swap. The swap organiser, Sandra from Berlin, sent me some stuff instead, so it kind of made up for the no send.

It is probably a good idea to mail your partner after the sign-up date so they can send you the swap ID# of the swaps where you never received anything.

I don't do mix CDs (only tapes) and I'm a lousy knitter. I've never made an ATC before but I'd love to try.

What a fabulous idea! I had no idea that so many people have also been shafted in swaps.

I have had many swap disappointments, but only one on this board, and that was the fingerless glove swap--oddly enough, the first swap I joined on this site.

I don't do mix tapes--or CD's but I do love to knit and do other crafts.

This looks like it'll be lots of fun, and I think that anyone who signs up for this swap and then flakes out should be flogged in the city square. ;-)

Release the Faieries and Angels!

This is such a sweet idea. There are so far only 3 swaps in which I never got anything.

1) craft book and magazine swap - new craft book and a new magazine (I sent knitting related ones)

2) recycled stuffy swap - recycled soft toy

3)knit kit swap - pattern, yarn, needles (min $20).

I was disappointed about not receiving anything for the knit kit swap because I love knitting and had sent a kit to Spain by registered surface mail (200g yarn + 2 circular needles + patterns). I hope it's arrived.

I knit, I can try to do other crafts, I think my husband can help with CDs, I have no idea with an ATC is but if someone tells me I will give it my best shot. Must warn you, please don't ask me to write a poem or a haiku, I have not tried to since grade school.

ooh girls , this is great, everyone seems ready to be swap-bot fairys and help out fellow swappers in need. i also agree that its a challenge not knowing what your partner has missed and if you can make-craft it or not. i guess i should get to posting my missing swaps...

and ghost knitter, remember if its a poetry thing you find on your partners list its ok if you look up a poem written by someone else as long as you credit the poet.

THIS SWAP IS ABOUT KINDNESS NOT PERFECTION, so everything counts, big and small.......

also, make sure since there are no rigid requirements to please rate your partner 5 ( a heart would be nice too:) if you recieve something, no matter the quanity.

ok this sounds like fun I am in I am fairly new but have been in several swaps and there are two swaps that I never received

1 one rate box swap this was a flat rate pority box costs 8.50 to mail full of leftover craft supplies or craft kits i mainly do paper crafts and altered art but I can use yarn and fabric as well

the other one was a baby bottle swap you got a package of 3 40z baby bottles and filled them with little items for crafting . buttons,beads, tiny images, old jewerly whatever would fit in the bottles I had a blast filling my bottles just wish i would have gotten some back

those are the only two swaps that I havn't gotten

This is a fun idea! I have been pretty lucky but I never received the following 2 swaps.

Recycled Softie Swap: Make one stuffed animal/toy out of recycled materials. For instance I made a mouse out of a felted wool sweater for my partner.

Swap with Your Partner for a Month Swap: In this swap we were supposed to get to know our partner and send them some little things they would like every week. My partner never sent anything. I wouldn't expect my fairy to send 4 different packages though.

hi girls i wanted to add 1 more thing, the cutoff date for swaps you never received will be feb 14th. that way we give sufficent time for all our swaps to arrive and i will do another one of these every few months..... no sad swappers, LOL

I'm concerned that someone with a rating lower than 2 has joined. Why would a non-sender need a swap fairy?

I never received a magnet swap: For this swap you will be swapping at least 5 different magnets with a partner; more if you like but keep in mind that you might only get 5 in return. Magnets can be store bought, handmade or a combination or both. BUT do not send advertising freebies (dominos pizza, doctors, car shops, etc).

This swap sounds awesome! I don't really know how to make a mix CD, but I can figure it out if my partner is missing one. :) I do fiber and paper crafts mostly...but I'll branch out if needed to make up for a bad swapping experience. :)

I have a couple swaps I haven't received in, but I'm going to wait until the 14th to list them, as a couple more are late and maybe they will show up in the next 2 days....Crossing fingers :)

If you can believe this, I've actually kept up with my swaps with No Sends to me and have it on a post-it note here on my desk. It allows me to quickly have a glance if I ever see one of these swappers names on a swap I'm on or if I'm partnered with them...

The swaps I never received for are relatively simple ones:

POSTCARDS WORLDWIDE - Send 1 postcard to 5 partners...didn't receive from 2 partners

POSTCARD ADDICTS - Send 2 postcards to 5 partners...didn't receive from 1 partner

HANDMADE ENVELOPES - Make and Send 15 handmade envelopes in various sizes, mediums, colors to 1 partner (I was most disappointed not to receive this one as I had fun making mine and looked forward to seeing someone else's creativity)

PUZZLE BOOKS - Send a puzzle book to 2 partners - I didn't receive from 1 and the other sent a TINY TINY puzzle book(my faves are Sudoku, Logic Puzzles, other Pencil puzzles...)

TURKEY DAY BOOKMARKS - Send 1 bookmark to 3 partners - I didn't receive from 2. Theme was "Thanksgiving" but could be anything about November or the US holiday of Thanksgiving...turkeys, pilgrims, family, traditions, favorite words that describe the holiday to you...

DISHCLOTH EXCHANGE - Knit or crochet 1 dishcloth to send to 1 partner along with a postcard from where they live

LOVE POSTCARD - Send 1 Love-themed postcard to 3 partners, handmade or bought, hearts, pink, cupid, red, etc. - didn't receive from 2 partners

Thanks for this great idea. I told my girlfriend about swap-bot and she is very disappointed as she has sent out many things and received a big goose egg (zero) things back. I am going to have her sign up for this one!

Now as to swaps I did not receive (and if it was multi-partner and I only got one including that) Story of My Life CD mix - put the story of your life to music on a mix cd Flea market/yard sale/thrift store - spend $5 at one of the three and send Fridge magnet - just what it says fridge magnets (I love city/state and local things) This makes me wanna CD mix - this makes me wanna dance, sleep, dream, head bop...etc

Mine is really simple: I participated in a Valentine swap for kids. My 10 year old boy worked really hard creating Valentines for his 2 partners (we sent candy and homemade stuff!) and one of his partners was a no send! The swap called for 1 homemade Valentine and 1 tiny kid trading Valentine: but honestly, anything in the mail would make him happy. He was really bummed after working so hard. Thanks!!

Here are my sad missing swaps: 1-I didn't get stickers from one partner in a sticker swap with a twist swap where you send someone several of your left-over stickers.

2-I did not receive a handmade Christmas ornament from one of my partners in the handmade christmas ornament swap.

• the Girly Box Swap - my partner sent her box but never got here :( a replacement or fairy was not sent ... "You have to send a box filled with typical girly stuff to one person. Make it really pretty and luxurious ,if you can. Some of the things you can put in are bubble bath, girly mags (let's stick to english since everyone here understands that), make up, perfume samples, massage oils, candles, sexy underwear, girly book, masque packs..you get the idea- something which makes the receiver feels good!"

• cold weather care package - my partner never sent anything.... "today was the first day of snow here in ohio and it made me think of all the mittens & warm clothing i have tucked away. you will send one package to one partner. this package can contain anything pertaining to cold weather and things you can do while being stuck indoors."

• Christmas Stocking Swap - my partner never sent anything and she even insulted me... yes, someone really thinks it is polite to flunk at xmas.. "Remember the fun of opening your stocking at Christmas when you were a child??? Well you can do this again this Christmas :0) Send your partner a cute or decorated Christmas stocking, filled with wrapped packages"

Someone Loves you swap: you send a stuffed animal, a BAG of candy and a card. It is supposed to be a Valentines swap. It ended the 6th. My partner is from the SAME state and I have not recieved! My fave candy is milk chocolate or the new Hershey\'s truffles with dark and milk chocolate! the card can be anything as simple as \" Im thinking of you\" type. As for the stuffed animal- anythin cute as that i had planned on giving it to my 2yo daughter!

I hope i get a swap where it involves kids! So i can make a kid happy!

The swaps I didn\'t receive are

A yard of fabric goes a long way which was for 4 fat quarters.

Pink care package which was for a box of pink goodies fabric ribbon buttons pens candies paper anything pink.

Fabric trims and candies which was 3-5 different candies 3-5 different trims 1 yard of each and 5 different fat quarters.

As you can see I\'m a bit of a fabric freak and love pink and green. It really is dissapointin not to get something back so I\'m really looking forward to this.

Swaps I did not receive are as follows:

1. Secret Message ATC: 3 ATCs with a secret message hidden within the ATC IE: behind a door, under a flap, etc

2. Artsy Envelope Swap: 3 handmade or store bought envelopes decorated or rubber stamped.

3. Purple ALtered Book Tip-in Page: an 8.5x11 page folded in half and decorated with the fold area left blank so it can be attached to a book or made into a book. I had 2 partners and both flaked on me.

4. Altered face postcard: make a postcard and collage a face on it using parts from different pictures.

5. Be ...Withced ATC: 3 ATCs with a witch theme.

6. Cancelled Postage Stamp ATC: 3 ATCs made using cancelled postage stamps.

7. Sparkly ATC Swap: 2 ATCs made using something sparkly, glitter, rhinestones, pearl-ex etc.

8. Ribbon/Trim Swap: minimum 6 one foot long pieces of ribbon or trim. Lace, brading, crochet edging, etc.

9. Variety Collage Swap: 6 x 9 envelope stuffed with collage items (paper, fabric, stickers, items cut from magazines, bottle caps, just about anything).

Finally I can make my list! :) Items I haven\'t received include:

1. Love Postcard Swap - sent to 3, only received from 2.

2. Letter for You -- 2 letters missing from 2 different rounds.

3. Swap quick - 1 small handmade item. Missing 1.

4. Button swap - missing 1 package.

5. Creative Pen Pals letter swap (send letter and an item showing your creativity) - didn\'t receive anything.

6. tell me about... (letter about why you live where you live) -- didn\'t receive.

The only things I didn\'t get was a homemade tea blend which was to mix up a batch of homemade tea and send it.

The other item I didn\'t get was for a swap called \"Spoil my little Pooch\". It was a swap that was to send a couple of little toys or other items for a dog. I sent toys and a handmade blanket to my partner, but never got anything back for my puppy. If someone chooses to do this one, my puppy is tiny and loves chewy things like the \'orca\' chews from Walmart. She also likes cat toys with bells, like plastic balls.

Thank you so much, Steph (Drewzel), for the lovely postcard which I received today. It looks perfect for the "Love Postcard" swap, but you'd already sent me a Love Postcard before! This is so sweet with the red fabric heart sewn onto the card and the "Love You" sticker with the dragonfly in the corner of the sticker -- love dragonflies!

Steph, I received the "Handmade Envelopes" today (Friday)! How cute are all those dogs! Great job and thank you so much for being a great "Fairy". I'd much rather call you an "Angel". You really outdid yourself! I think you sent me something for EVERY swap I missed out on. You indicated just yesterday that there are a "couple" more things on their way, so I think it's possible since I got the "handmade envelopes" today, that you might have done a dishcloth, too, making ALL my lost swaps fulfilled! (If you didn't do a dishcloth, that is more than ok...it's just that you've fulfilled every swap except that one that I can't imagine what else you could have sent if there were a "couple more" yesterday still to arrive!)

Poggy123, it would be SAD if those No Sends really don't send! But of course, to give them the benefit of the doubt, something might have happened in their world. However, whatever the case may be, if an Angel for this Angel swap (or Fairy Swap), let me know and I'll do this again. It was really a great idea, and I had such a fantastic Angel sending me swaps that I missed out on, that I wouldn't mind spreading the joy some more!
