Inky the octopus is the new escape artist to admire -- following in the tradition of Houdini and Oceans Eleven ... Celebrating resistance and Inky's ... watery tracks, let's make some art with ink (any color will do, but plain old India ink is cheap and spectacular) and some form of resist. Coloring with crayon or oil pastels and then painting over it with ink is classic, but then there is poster paint resist, and then you can add watercolor or acrylic paint in the mix ... well, this is ZMACS and we are unpredictable, ne c'est pas? Incredible what can be done with a little ingenuity and a few tutorials. One item of mail art of any kind, from postcard to ATC to paper hat or crown, celebrating Resistance of any sort and featuring an Ink Resist technique. Bonus points for throwing in a reference to the octopus formerly known as Inky. Inky, we salute you with mere hands ... we sadly lack tentacles! I will send an elite squad of ninja octopi to angel all unsent swaps. Open to all ZMACS members in good standing. Resist, resist, resist! Image is by Joanna Read Cotter c 2010, and is called "Octopus of the Deep." Bon voyage, Inky! |
