This is #2 in our series of 12 Goddesses.

For this swap you will send 4 items to 1 partner. These 4 items must be associated with the goddess but are up to your interpretation. Please include a note that says why you chose those items and how they relate to the goddess (as well as the swap name and your ID) This swap is international so keep in mind that you may receive a partner across the world from you and shipping can get pricey. However, note that this can also be well worth it as you will get a unique glimpse into the Goddess from someone across the world in a totally different culture than you! Extra items often mean hearts, so make this a package that you would like to receive!

I chose Freyja for the month of February as it is the month we celebrate Valentines Day and "love is in the air" But, so is war ;) You cannot have one without the other and it often seems the stronger one is, the stronger the other side can be. Freyja is a good goddess to bring into your practice as you harness your sexuality and sensuality as a woman. She embodies the idea of "I am woman, hear me roar!" Welcome her into your practice this month and let her teach you the ways of the Divine Feminine!

Freyja

  • Freyja is part of the Norse pantheon of gods/goddesses and she is Vanir as opposed to the more well-know Aesir (Odin, Thor, etc.) The Vanir are associate with nature and wild places. They were quite often Fertility gods and goddesses because of this.
  • Archaeologists often think that Freyja and Frigg were the same goddess
  • As many great goddesses are, Freyja is associated with both love AND war
  • She is also associated with beauty, fertility, divination and magic
  • "Freya was the Norse Goddess of beauty that no man could resist when she wore her enchanting necklace known as the Brisingamen. This necklace was made for her my four dwarves. They demanded that as repayment she spent a night with each of them in turn. Although she had many affairs she loved her husband deeply and when he went missing she cried tears of gold. She set out to find him by transforming herself into a bird with her magical cloak."
  • She is thought to have taught Odin his abilities as a seΓ’Λ†β€šir (which was the ancient mysticism/magic only women possessed)
  • Freyja can be called upon by women specifically for magical help, guidance and prophecy
  • As most goddesses and fertility figures, she is linked to the moon.

Other Associations with Freyja

  • Flowers and Love Songs
  • Female Sexuality and the wild, untamed spaces
  • Associated with divination and runes
  • Her chariot is pulled by cats and she is also associated with wild pigs and ravens
  • Amber
