Description:

i love making paper snowflakes this time of year! i live in washington state, and although it does snow here almost every winter, it never sticks around long!

paper snowflakes are the perfect way to enjoy the beauty of winter without all the hassle of having to shovel your driveway! and what could be easier than folding and cutting paper to create something so magical? i can't think of anything!

for this swap, we will each have only 2 partners to send to. please send a minimum of five snowflakes, but you're welcome to send as many more as you like! also, please make your snowflakes on clean, white paper (unless otherwise discussed with your partner)!

the easiest way i could think to send finished snowflakes would be to leave them folded after you're done cutting them. you can still open them up to take a look, just gently fold them back up when you are done. and be sure to be very careful as intricately cut flakes tend to be very delicate.

and just remember that each and every snowflake is unique. this is meant to be a fun swap and nothing stressful! your cuts and notches do not have to be perfect...that's the beauty of making paper flakes...no matter how/where you make your cuts, it will always turn out beautifully!

here's a link that shows you how to fold and make 6-pointed paper flakes (in my opinion, they turn out the best!) http://highhopes.com/snowflakes.html

this swap is open to newbies with a well filled out profile and swappers with a 4.5+ rating. any questions, please feel free to contact me. as usual, i reserve the right to boot anyone that doesn't meet this criteria.

have fun with this! i can't wait to receive my flakes and open them up! that's the best part of making these! :D

blue crayons - maybe your partner will send you a patterned one or two. = I like them anyway I can get them & we even make them out of colored construction paper at my house.

bluecrayons:

i would definitely talk to your partner. see if they would be interested in making yours in the style you'd like to receive and see what they would like. i know for me i'd prefer they be white, but that's up to you!

i mostly said white paper because most folks have printer paper on hand. i'd hate for someone to feel pressure to go out and spend a whole lot, especially this time of year. i know a lot of people are feeling the holiday pinch right about now. like i said, i just want this to be a stress-free, fun swap!

ok, everyone...

i've changed the send by date for this swap. it's now dec. 10th instead of dec. 5th.

thanks!

I have been making some from lace. Would this be acceptable?

I would love either white or patterned snowflakes--this will be a great decoration on my windows for winter!

I will love any snowflakes I get! Our Magic Elves will be using them, along with others I- I mean they ;o)- make, to turn our living room into a winter wonderland.

I am happy with white or colored. My kids love looking at them and think I am the coolest because I can make them:-) Gotta love kids!!

One of the things my husband and I did on our first date was cut paper snowflakes while listening to Neutral Milk Hotel. We hung them all from the ceiling and it was magical. Word of advice: single ladies participating in this swap should use snowflake cutting to their advantage. :)

SewManyLittleThings 12/ 6/2008 #

any snowflakes are fine so long as they are fine with your partners! thanks!
