Description:

I thought it might be fun to have a creative writing swap where we tell about our craft space - - the space we use to create our art for swaps, pen pals, etc. Some may be blessed to have a whole room dedicated just for crafting. Some may do their crafting on their dining room or kitchen table, etc. Some have the luxury of leaving a project not quite done on their art desk, while some, especially if working at the dining room table, may have to pick it up before dinner time. :)

Write so that your partner can really imagine themselves being in your craft space and seeing what you see. This could include some rough sketches (optional) if you think it would help your partner get more of a sense of what's around you in your space. Don't worry if you aren't a fine art major - LOL. My sketches are usually lop-sided and not well proportioned, but that's the fun of it. You could also include snippets of what's in the drawer/box you are describing (i.e. in this drawer I have two plastic trays full of washi tape rolls; or I have a drawer of gel pens [write with a few of them]). We all have "nooks & crannies" - - be it carts with drawers, dressers, plastic bins, shelves, shoeboxes, pencil cups, etc. Tell your partner about some of these things. Some may even have stories on how you came to have them. For example, one item I have on a small shelf is a colorful mug with flowers on it that I got at a thrift store. It has this quote on it: "Believe that something wonderful is about to happen." It's a large mug and I use it to store my scissors and decorative scissors."

Are you starting to sense what I'm looking for in this swap project? Hopefully so. You can see how this swap project could turn into writing a small book (that could be a whole other creative aspect in itself). Nevertheless, if you have a small space, medium space, or a whole room, I'm sure your partner will enjoy reading all about it. If you do have a big creative space, don't feel you have to write about the whole thing (unless you want to); you could just choose a few areas.

I'll give a few weeks so we can really do some describing. You can even start now for more time if you want. Feel free to write or type your descriptions, and have fun with it! :)

  • P.S. #1 - Sorry for the long write-up. LOL
  • P.S. #2 - The swap photo is a small glimpse into part of my own creative space. :)
