Description: | |
Yuletide is traditionally 12 days. We are going to celebrate with 12 days of swaps! You may join all or as many as you want. These are all going to be sender's choice, so you can put your swap together at any time and be ready to send it when I assign partners. Day 6: Mistletoe I'm not going to ask you harvest real mistletoe in the Traditional way: On the sixth day of the new moon closest to the Winter Solstice, you would don a white ritual robe (after the prerequisite cleansing bath with herbs) and climb a sacred Oak tree. There, you would cut the mistletoe with one swipe of a gold boline and let it fall into a cloak held by your partners below. The mistletoe had to fall into the cloak and not touch the ground, lest it's sacred powers be lost. Instead, I'm just going to have us swap sprigs of mistletoe or representations of mistletoe. This may be the actual plant itself, or possibly a picture or card depicting mistletoe. Whatever you find that you think is special and represents Yule. Because mistletoe doesnβt grow in the earth, it is thought to be a very sacred plant that comes from the Place between places. The Pagan tradition is to use mistletoe as a symbol of peace and goodwill. When hung in your home it will provide protection, attract love and peace, bless your home, and heal your mind, body, and spirit. Place it on your altar at the winter solstice to ensure success in the coming year. Mistletoe is used in fertility, dream and spiritual healing rituals. Wands made of mistletoe are used for protection and to ward off evil. Warning: Mistletoe is poisonous. Do not ingest! As always, I will Angel. Merry Yule |
