This is a swap for used stamps, any stamps, US or otherwise. There will be 2 partners for this. You will send a total of 30 DIFFERENT used stamps to each partner. No duplicates. No US flags...those can be found anywhere! Please send loose stamps, already taken off the paper. And try to send unique stamps, if possible.

Because this is an international swap, I will put a 6 week span between partners given and deadline to send. Please make sure to give time to rate for this reason. PLEASE...make sure to include a note with the swap name and your swapbot user name so you can get rated!!!

15 stamps is not a lot.

CajunLady 04/ 6/2007 #

okay then I'll bump it up a little

kittenmeowmeow 04/ 6/2007 #

maybe you should change the rules to no flag stamps from any country, because then others would have it easier because in their country, all of their flag stamps are very common. and i think what everyone's looking for are some unique stamps. maybe include 1 common flag stamp. or something extra. who knows. what do you think?

Vlcatko 04/ 7/2007 #

kittenmeowmeow --- for example I am an not sure we have a stamp with a flag and I have not seen many flags other than those of US and Canada... Just a note ;)

Vlcatko 04/ 7/2007 #

Yeah, one more thing, a question this time: do the stamps have to be still attatched to the original envelope or can they be loose?

Thanks...

user6664 04/ 7/2007 #

If loose is ok, I'm definitely in! :)

CajunLady 04/ 7/2007 #

Definitly loose stamps. I'll add this to the list too.

kittenmeowmeow 04/ 7/2007 #

oh okay. didn't know other countries didn't have flag stamps. interesting. i have flag stamps from other countries. so i just assumed most all did. sorry.

Vlcatko 04/ 8/2007 #

kittenmeowmeow --- it's OK, I collected stamps long long time ago so I might be out of date with my information ;)

CajunLady 04/ 8/2007 #

Just to clarify...what I mean by flags is the ones you see EVERYWHERE. Especially here in the US. The ones you get out of the machine at the post office if you don't talk to someone to get purchase stamps. I actually looked at a bag of stamps you could buy at a bookstore and there was nothing but flag stamps in it. Like this one: http://www.pnc3.org/images/usflag37.jpg

lamazon 04/10/2007 #

If I can send stamps still attached to the paper I'm in .I don't have time to get them all loose from the paper . greetings from Belgium .

kittenmeowmeow 04/10/2007 #

the date is sooo far away. i can't wait to get my parter! I might be switching addresses near the end near the deadline. just to let people know. thanks.

mnsqb 04/10/2007 #

Just wondering what you mean by OH. All I could come up with is Ohio and the Stamp Store Pro. didn't have any idea what it could be either. I'd gladly comply if I knew what it was. Thanks.

CajunLady 04/10/2007 #

OH just means...oh, like oh by the way. Sorry for the confusion. I've edited the info.

mnsqb 04/10/2007 #

Okay thanks for letting me know. Am looking forward to this!

kittenmeowmeow 04/11/2007 #

ahh! i have mine all packaged up. i hope my partner likes them.

user7052 04/12/2007 #

I'm so excited about this swap! Just last weekend I found a huge envelope of stamps that I had collected (back when I had spare time - before I had kids) in the '70s and '80s which are in fantastic shape and quite unique. Would those be okay to include in this swap or should I aim for more recent (newer) stamps? Thanks in advance for your advice as I'm still relatively new to swap-bot and don't want to disappoint my partners!

CajunLady 04/12/2007 #

PamBartlow, any stamps are fine. Wow but I would love to have that collection of stamps!! I've been collecting since I am 11 and it's a rather big collection. I am always looking for older stamps.

kittenmeowmeow 04/12/2007 #

Wow! i'd love to be your partner, pam! i collected when i was a kid then stopped collecting. so all mine are '90's stamps. lol. that's so not very long ago. haha.

user7052 04/13/2007 #

Thanks for your advice about using my newly found stash of stamps for this swap! Time to start sorting:-))

Hugs

jeanland 04/16/2007 #

I'm new but I should be getting ratings soon, is that okay? I can give you my PostCrossing user-name? Or eBay?

Also I was wondering if it would be okay if the stamp is still attached to the envelope paper? I've got some great foreign ones and older ones from the 80s & 90s.

lamazon 04/17/2007 #

DixieWitch perhaps you missed my message from 4/10 . So I'll ask it again : can I send stamps still attached to the paper ? If yes I will signup . Greetings from Belgium

kittenmeowmeow 04/17/2007 #

I am okay with stamps still attached to papers, if you get me.

CajunLady 04/19/2007 #

Sorry I haven't been responding. We just got home from 5 days in FLorida, 2 of those days in Disney. Stamps on paper is fine, if your partner doesn't mind. Please contact your partner before sending though.

lamazon 04/19/2007 #

Ok DixieWitch . We don't know our partners before signing up so I can't ask it in advance . I really don't have time to undo them from the paper .So no signing up for me !

jeanland 04/19/2007 #

Awww, I was really wanting to do this one. I have some really cool stamps I was wanting to send. I'm not a 'real' stamp collector, I just save all the stamps I get off of letters and I've bought really old letters from flea markets because of the unique handwriting and there are stamps on those (some from nearly 100 years ago) that I was considering using. But I honestly have no idea how to remove the stamps from the paper and I can't afford to buy anything to do that. Does steam work? If someone can tell me how to use steam to get the stamps off the papar I'll happily stay in the swap but otherwise I'm sadly going to have to remove myself. Can anyone help with steam advise, lol?

nylelyn23 04/20/2007 #

Hey there Jean, I don't know about you but what I do is simply soak them in water for about 30min or an hour. or until the stamps come off by themselves, then dry them on a towel or something.

This works with most stamps. Only some Australian stamps get torn. So you might not want to try them with Australian stamps. Hope this helps! =D

nylelyn23 04/20/2007 #

And i don't mind stamps that are still on the paper anyway.

CajunLady 04/20/2007 #

p.s. I don't mind stamps on paper.

CraftyDiana 04/20/2007 #

I'm excited for this swap..I have SO many stamps! Just a thought..doesn't the amount of time between signup date and send date seem a little bit too long?

I understand that international senders need extra time, but 6 weeks seems like a lot to just put some stamps in an envelope and send them off. :-)

CajunLady 04/20/2007 #

Okay I've changed the date to an earlier time to be sent by. I had originally set it so long for international reasons. But I think 4 weeks is plenty long enough, right?

jeanland 04/20/2007 #

Thank you for the soaking in water tip Nylelyn! :) So, generally soaking in water won't destroy the stamp? I'll have to try that. I'll try it with a regular flag stamp and see how it goes. Would warm water be best do you think? Though with some of the old stamps, I don't know if I should risk using water, lol, they might dissolve!

user6664 04/21/2007 #

I don't mind stamps on paper, ok for me! And Jean Smith, warm water is best! :)

mnsqb 04/21/2007 #

Stamps on paper is fine by me. I was reviewing what I had to send and realized how many I still had on paper. If you don't want to use water - which is the method I like - there is a product that you can use to remove the stamps. Unfortunately I can't remeber its name. Also for drying, just put down some newspapers and then put some paper towels on top of them. Then after soaking them in water just put the stamps face down each on top to dry. If you want to spend more money there are also drying books out there that are supposed to help keep the stamps flat when they dry.

Basilika 04/21/2007 #

I don't mind if the stamps are still on paper either.

CraftyDiana 04/22/2007 #

That's perfect! I can't wait! :)

jeanland 04/22/2007 #

The packages of stamps are going in the mail first thing tomorrow (23 April)! I hope my partners will like them! :)

kittenmeowmeow 04/23/2007 #

Janet burns, and natalia, your stamps are comming! <3

Vlcatko 04/24/2007 #

DixieWitch and kittenmeowmeow --- I sent your stamps today. I know it's a bit "girigiri" but I thought the date was a bit later - but I still managed it in time, so there - I hope they will be by you soon, I Air Mailed them to be sure :)

Vlcatko 04/24/2007 #

He he, I messed up again ;P I mixed up the send date with another swap and I thought today was the last day to send... Well at least you will have your stamps soon :)

user7052 04/24/2007 #

Cadensia and Aerochik - your stamps were mailed from my post office this afternoon! Hope they arrive safely and soon! Hugs!

Basilika 04/24/2007 #

Jean Smith and missamy: I will send your stamps today from Sweden, it usually takes about a week to the US.

jeanland 05/ 1/2007 #

I received both my packets of stamps today from - Kimmie (thank you for the extras!) & Basilika (thank you also for the extras, and Basilika, these are awesome stamps! I've never seen any of these before, they are beautiful!)

Thank you both! I hope my partners have received the ones I've sent to them and that they enjoy them even just half as much as I love the ones I received!

Thanks again! Jean
