Description:

June is Audiobook Appreciation month! Let's do a quick swap. :) This swap will be International and you will have 1 partner to snail mail a note to about audiobooks. As always, if you are interested in an email or US only version, just send me a PM and let me know. :)

It's no secret to people who know me at all that I love audiobooks! But I understand why people might not enjoy them, or are afraid to try them out. Even though at least 50% of my books each year are audios, I disliked them for many years.

For this swap, just listen to an audiobook. Any book of your choosing - you can buy one, get one from the library, find "old-school CD's" - or GASP! a cassette tape or GASP GASP!! a record :) - it's up to you. There are even some podcasts that offer audiobook listens (for free!), such as The Classic Tales

After you've finished the book -or the send by date is looming OR you just cannot stand to listen to another sound and decide to DNF the book - send your partner a note with the audiobook title and author - and the narrator, if you can find it - and let them know what you thought about the experience of listening to the book. If you didn't like it and don't want to try it again, that is OK! IF it was ok and you might consider listening to another one, that's OK too! Or, if you regularly listen to audiobooks, you can let you partner know why you enjoy the audios, why/how you got started with them, or some favorites.
(This can be in a letter, notecard - typed or handwritten, it's up to you. But write more than a postcard, so no postcards for this swap. Decoration and such is up to you.)

If you are looking to try something new - either an audiobook itself, or a new style - I would suggest the podcast I linked above. The narrator has a nice voice, I thought, and I've enjoyed a few of the audios I've listened to through the podcast. The Dorothy L Sayers mystery especially. They are classic tales, so older books.

If you have any suggestions for other audiobooks for group members to try out, please feel free to leave those suggestions in the comments section below. :)

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please send me a PM and I'll respond as soon as I can! Also, if you'd like this swap in a different format, please just let me know.

Happy listening! :)

There are so many suggestions! But I'm going to start with: "Born a Crime" by Trevor Noah

If you are looking to listen with your kids, I would suggest the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan Or, I suppose, the Harry Potter books narrated by Jim Dale. (I swear, Jim Dale's narration is the only thing that got me to finish those!)

The In Death series by JD Robb is well done for narration - this a series set in the future about a New York cop - think Law & Order, but 30-40 years in the future.

The Kinsey Milhone series by Sue Grafton (RIP) I thought were really amazing as well, for mystery lovers.
