Description:

Newbie artists welcome! You do not need to have any experience making ATC's in order to join this swap. Newbies as well as seasoned ATC swappers may join. Here's your chance to practice creating ATC's without the worry of being judged.

Seasoned ATC swappers should be aware that the quality of ATC they send out may not match the quality received.

For this swap you will create an ATC in any theme you like. Maybe a Tim Holtz theme, animal or bird theme, a house shaped ATC, an ATC with a book page background or a floral watercolor ATC. It can be anything you choose.

You can use any style & technique to create your ATC as well as any medium you choose such as...colored pencils, watercolor, acrylics, rubber stamped, mixed media, etc.

An artist trading card (or ATC for short) is a small, original piece of art created with the intention of swapping or trading it with another artist. The one rule an artist trading card must adhere to is the size 2.5" x 3.5".

The front of an ATC, is where the artist creates an original work to showcase their art. The back of an ATC is where the artist puts their name, contact details, title of the ATC, & the date it was created.

Artist trading cards can be made in any media including DRY MEDIA (pencils, pens, markers, etc), WET MEDIA (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc), PAPER MEDIA (collage paper, ephemera, etc.) or MIXED MEDIA (a combination of 2 or more of the medias listed above).

ATC's should be flat enough to fit inside a protective sleeve, therefore dimensional embellishments should be kept to a minimum. You can buy packs of plastic trading card sleeves, cut individual sleeves from a 9 pocket trading card page, make your own out of paper, a small envelope, plastic baggie, library pocket, etc.

ATC's should have a sturdy backing. You can use cardstock, paper board cut from a cereal or other product packaging, mail flyers, etc.

Do a search on YouTube, Google, or Pinterest for "Artist Trading Cards" & you will find a wealth of information & examples.

Remember...

Never take credit for another person's art. Take time & do your best work.

WHO CAN JOIN?

  • Newbie artists welcome as long as you have a well filled out profile, knowledge of ATC's & have been rated for at least 6+ ATC swaps. I am hosting a newbie friendly swap in conjunction with this one, so if you are still new to ATC's please sign up there.
  • No recent or unexplained 1's or 3's unless you contact me first. Must not have participated in any "ratings booster" swaps (to make up for your bad ratings) within the past year.
  • I will screen all participants of this swap VERY THOROUGHLY during signup & before partners are assigned, so don't drop out if you see a flaker or someone with poor ratings just let me know & I will check them out .If you are not sure that you meet the requirements, or have a question or concern about the swap please send me a private message as I do not check the "Leave a Comment" section below.
