ABC: Fun w/Stamps #6

Let’s create an ATC Starter-Set (of two STURDY cards) that both contain stamps in some way, shape, or form. This is open to artists' interpretation and includes any stamps or stamping themes! (rubber stamps, postage stamps, acrylic stamps, hand-carved stamps, faux stamp shapes, etc.)

Ideas:

  • Include used postage stamps in your background or as the focal points on both cards

  • Rubber stamp and/or emboss the backgrounds of both cards with a variety of colors or designs

  • Add a faux perforation or postage-stamped edge to both of the cards

  • Use layers of postage stamps to create texture on both cards

However, stamps DO NOT have to be the focus of the cards, only that stamps are a part of the art in some manner.

All group standards apply.

(please refresh your memory by reading the group's home page)

These cards must be sturdy, properly sized, and labeled on the back. Buddy jamming directions are always on our home page for helpful reminders. Please, please, please read and adhere to these directions. Thank you!

RECAP:

  • Send a sturdy pair of cards (ATC or APC with your name and address on the back) and
  • A set of two embellishments or focal points for your buddy to work with
  • Wait patiently (at least 30 USPS business days) as your buddy completes both cards and returns one of the cards in the mail back to you
  • In the meantime, you'll be completing the cards that get sent to you by your assigned buddy, and then

  • Return one of their cards to them!

The point of these buddy jams is that both artists will collaborate on a pair of artistic cards and each has one to keep in their collections.

Let's have fun using stamps!

——————————

Please remember to always return one of the two cards back to the original artist who you were buddied up with on the set after you’ve completed it. Because of the way swap-bot works, the return of homer cards takes place using the honor system, unless you and your buddy set up a private swap. Our group forum page has a swap log with an example of a private swap, in case that’s helpful.

Unfortunately, I cannot set private swaps up for you if I’m not a participating buddy. But if you ever experience any issues with getting your homer card back, contact me ASAP so that I can resolve the matter. I consider it stealing when cards do not get returned and have evicted two different people from the group for that disrespect already. They’re permanently banned from everything I coordinate here.

This theme will be a monthly swap as long as the interest remains. I may change it to every-other month, or quarterly if participation slows down though. Let me know if you want anything changed. `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

Friendly reminder about how a Buddy JAM works:

  • Artist #1 - sends a pair of near identical background cards (called "starters") to their buddy (another artist in the group, assigned by the 'bot). The backs of both cards are labeled with Artist #1's name and address, and 2 focal points for the cards are included as well.

NOTE: It is always a good idea to include a return address label or S.A.S.E. with this initial starter set so that your homer card can be easily returned back to you!

  • Artist #2 - upon receiving the starter cards, adds to and completes the cards by adding 2-4 elements/techniques to each one. Artist #2 also adds their information to the back of both cards, alongside Artist #1’s info, to record who collaborated on the art cards. Then Artist #2 returns one complete card via snail mail (called a “homer” card) back to Artist #1.
