Description:

Did any of you know that March 28th is Respect Your Cat Day? Well yes it is. It's a good day to spend some extra time with your cat and buy him or her a new toy.

Cats might seem confident and aloof, but the fact of the matter is that they still require our assistance. We need to make sure that they have fresh water, abundant stores of food, and a clean litter box, or they’re not going to be very happy.

But those things aren’t the only things that our feline friends require from us. They also require our respect. They want to be treated as loyal companions and to receive affection when they desire it.

Anything less is criminal in the eyes of a cat. That’s why we think that all cat owners should take the time to observe Respect Your Cat Day when it comes around on March 28th.

Even though we suspect that this holiday was created by a cat lover, we don’t know who invented it or when they invented it. We did a little bit of research and tried to dig into this holiday’s past but were unsuccessful in finding out its origin story.

With that said, we believe that this holiday has been around since at least 2006, maybe even a bit earlier.

Although we’ve covered cat facts on other cat-themed holidays, we thought that we’d take another swipe at it and find some more facts for this holiday article. After all, how are you going to observe Respect Your Cat Day if you don’t have a bunch of interesting information to sift through? Let’s check out these facts below.

It’s believed that cats have been domesticated for approximately 10,000 years.

Cats spend about 70% of their entire lives sleeping.

The richest cat in the world was named Blackie and had a 7 million pound fortune.

Although cats do purr when they’re content, they also may purr if they’re sick, stressed, or hurt.

The majority of cats don’t respond to catnip. However, there are some cats that do go simply wild over it.

A group of kittens is called a kindle.

In Japan, black cats are considered to be good luck.

On this day, cat owners all over the world will choose to show their cats the respect they deserve. They will do this by spending a little extra time with them, by buying them a new toy, or perhaps by giving them a special treat. Cat lovers are also encouraged to spread the word about this holiday using the hashtag #RespectYourCatDay on social media.

Next onto our swap:

Post THREE (3) pictures or gifs to each of your THREE (3) partner's profiles with the theme "Respect Your Cat Day" or "cat". The pictures that you choose may be the SAME OR DIFFERENT between all of your partners. Please choose pictures that you think THEY will enjoy!

If you get 3 pictures from your partner on "Respect Your Cat Day" or "cat" you have to rate them a 5. The heart on the rating is for if you like what they sent.

To leave a photo on someone's profile use this code ! [ ] ( Put image here ) With NO spaces & paste the picture's link between the curved parenthesis.

Practice on your own profile first to be sure it looks good because you can easily delete there.

Pick images that are size 300 wide or smaller to be sure they fit. I go to Google images to get my pictures.

Hover over images to see their size because there will be some larger sizes there too. If you really like something click on it and go to the words SEARCH BY IMAGE and click on that. THEN go to the word SMALL and see if there is one 300 size. There are other tricks in the group thread; AN EASY way to get a small PIC from a BIG one;-)

You can find moving pictures at http://giphy.com/

You can also find gifs at google, just type in topic gif 300 x 300.

Please write the TITLE OF THE SWAP ON YOUR PROFILE DECO MESSAGE too! This makes it easier for partners that are in a lot of these swaps to rate it.

Any problems, feel free to contact me.

I want to thank @anrtist for allowing me to borrow SOME of her wording.
