  • sewing patterns
  • fabric
  • embellishments: ribbons, buttons, etc
  • accessories
  • books

Look at your partner's profile and try and get them something that they will really love! Just remember, don't give someone something that you would not love to receive.

If you want to make it an extra special swap, you can send more than one vintage item or put extra things such as vintage ribbons or buttons in your package.

Anyone with a minimum rating of 4.5 with NO no-sends two months before the swap sign up deadline are able to participate in this swap. Before the assignment of partners I will be checking profiles and banning any questionable swappers.

This is a great swap - why didn't i think of this! Thanks! I love owning things from the past. It is so much more sentimental. I love anything vintage. Anything!

jljorna 04/26/2009 #

Good Idea! I especially love vintage sewing or kitchen things :)

kgeslab 05/11/2009 #

I'd love buttons or fabric and embellishments - lace, old hankies, ribbons, trims - and don't worry about stains!

This will be great! Another excuse for me to go to Cottage Girls! Hooray!! PS What are we calling vintage these days? How many years old must it be? I heard someone call 80's stuff vintage on TV the other day....surely 80's isn't vintage yet??? (Yikes)

BeautifulMess 05/13/2009 #

I'm only watching this atm, but I have some cooking books that are from the early 80's, some heading to 30 years old now... is that vintage?

bellazoo 05/13/2009 #

yay! YES Beautiful mess that sounds great!

Charmaine 05/13/2009 #

I can't wait for this one to start!!!

TheCraftyLibrarian 05/14/2009 #

I think that 80s is vintage! I'm sure that if you check your partner's profile to see their likes/dislikes, then something that you think is vintage will make them really happy :o)

Veloena 05/14/2009 #

Sounds delicious, count me in! I'm new here but promise to find out something spectacular to send to my pair... have lots of vintage stuff at home :)

moxsapphir 05/14/2009 #

You girls are making me feel old, surely 50's and before is vintage!!!!!!!!!

ravenshadowcaster 05/15/2009 #

can't believe how many people have signed up since I did -terrific. My kids think anything older than the year they were born is vintage lol -this swap will be 'lucky dip' for grown ups yeh what fun

breccamerie 05/15/2009 #

Etsy lists ''vintage' as 20+ years. I think antique is 30-40+ years. I see 80's as Retro, but that fits under vintage to I suppose. Maybe we could just stick with Etsy requirements for the swap and say 20+ years?

trollop 05/16/2009 #

antiques is 100+ unless they've changed it in recent usage.

I'm stunned what seemed like just yesterday is vintage.

PaigeMonroe09 05/16/2009 #

I like Marilyn monroe and those silly vintage magnets with sayings!

This will be my first swap! I can't wait! I love BUTTONS, ribbon, fabric, junk jewlry, flowers pins. And almost anything funky or cute!

twobluecrows 05/17/2009 #

Wikipedia says vintage (referring to clothing) is basically anything that's past, out of fashion, no longer trendy--they put a date at the 80s, going back to the 20s when things are now antiques.

My favorite period of vintage then is the late 20s to late 30s, especially kitchen ware and cookbooks--I have a zilllion of them!

I love vintage fabric and buttons.

trashgirl 05/18/2009 #

This will be my first swap and I'm so excited!
Anything 50's is wonderful.

Starsnow 05/18/2009 #

Ok, I am confused (and feel way old) as well. What is the guideline for "Vintage" for this Swap? Anything 80's for me (we're talking 1980 right?) is still in use 1880, okay.... 1950's seems to be the era in my vintage thoughts.

inkognitoban 05/18/2009 #

this will be a bLaSt!

BEARSANDANNIES 05/19/2009 #

Is there a cost limit for the swap?

bellazoo 05/25/2009 #

cant wait! cant wait! cant wait!

bellazoo 05/25/2009 #

i don't mind antiques either - why would anyone...lol

bellazoo 05/25/2009 #

30 years (officially) and older is vintage but other sites say any style that's not trendy anymore...(weird cuz i find it all trendy ;P) - older than 100 years is antique just for reference...

pursehappygal 05/25/2009 #

I thought the "guidelines" was twenty years. They say the 10980's is vintage...damn that makes me feel old!

pursehappygal 05/25/2009 #

OOPS I meant 1980's!

bellazoo 05/26/2009 #

lol who cares if its one day old ill be happy to have it!!!

lilspotteddog 05/26/2009 #

I'm listening to this stuff about eithies being veintage, and I ihave to say that I, too, am still using 80's stuff!. Having been born in the fifties, I consider things from the sixties vintage. Maybe it's all a state of mind.

amygunson 05/26/2009 #

can't wait to get swapping!

provadia 05/27/2009 #

Just no sewing patterns for me! Thanks:)

JenDiggityDirt 05/28/2009 #

I'd love to see this swap done again with the traditional definition of vintage (meaning 30's-50's). 80's is absolutely "retro", not "vintage" despite what some references might say.
