Hello friends! I am here with a risky and dangerous swap to host publicly, because there is a non-negligible monetary commitment. I will say upfront that I will angel if your partner flakes, but I am hoping the safeguards in place will prevent this from happening.
For this swap, you will be sending your partner one bag of coffee beans from a roaster who is local to you. Local in this case means that, if you purchase them in person, they are only available at coffee shops or local stores near you. That's it! I will put the rules in bullet form for ease of reading:
Minimum bag size is 8 oz, though you may send larger. Minimum spend is $10 pre-shipping. Please try to keep it under $20 just to keep things relatively symmetrical. For this swap, we will be trading local blends, not single-origin coffees. Just because while quality and roast of single-origin can vary, there is much more variety in blends, and this is about trying new things! You may send directly from the roaster's website as long as they meet the above definition of local. We all take on a risk by accepting food items, especially ones that may not be factory sealed, so this is not a terrible way to ensure the comfort of your partner. If they have a gift option, include swap name and username here. If not, message your partner on SB and let them know where to expect a package from. That said, if you order online, please also send your partner a little handwritten note separately. Let them know if you like this blend or thought they'd like it, if you go to this coffee shop often or buy from them often, how you drink your coffee, etc. Drink a strong cup of coffee first and feel free to get chatty about whatever, not just coffee! Also include swap name and username here if sent separate from beans. Please comment your grind preference (or whole beans) and anything else you think may be relevant. Some people do not own grinders and it is kind of grody to show up somewhere with coffee purchased elsewhere expecting to grind it. It's always nice to send your partner tracking info! Please rate once you receive both the coffee and the note. I will come for you (message you politely) if you do not rate for a money-intensive swap. Your partner gets a 5 if the coffee is 8+ oz of a local blend in your grind preference and isn't full of leaves and dead bugs, and they also sent a note that was more than three sentences. Heart if you love it or if they tried to cater to other preferences you list please! US only due to customs woes and shipping costs. This swap is not newbie friendly. You must have 20 completed type 3's (I will count art intensive type 2's if you are very active), have completed and been rated for 8 type 2 or 3 swaps in the past two months, and no unexplained/unresolved 1's or 3's, period. 1's and 3's will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis -- no-sends or late-sends in the past year are a no-go. Misunderstandings in the past year may be acceptable. Please sign in within 3 days of partners being assigned or you will be dropped. I also reserve the right to ban anyone with bad vibes for any reason, but there is always a reason. I will angel after you attempt to resolve with your partner and rate a 1.
