Description:

I saw this swap from a message on one of my groups and thought it would be a fun way to learn a new craft or get a DIY kit for a craft you already love to do.

In this swap, we will exchange a kit with the materials needed to make a completed craft project. Kits should include the directions to make the craft and everything needed for the final product (except common household items like sewing needles, scissors, tape, or an oven). Ideally, a kit would be homemade and for a craft you yourself are proficient at, but a purchased kit would be alright as long as it otherwise meets the requirements. However, the total cost of your swap materials should not exceed $10(US), and it's perfectly fine to buy nothing and just use stuff you already own.

For example, if I were to swap a kit to make a polish star, I would send a bunch of cut pretty paper circles, some embroidery floss, and detailed directions. If my kit was to make a beaded necklace, I would include beads, wire, a clasp, and directions. A feltie or dotee doll kit would include cut fabric (or uncut fabric and a pattern), a little wad of stuffing, thread/embroidery floss, some embellishments, and directions. A stamped card kit would include card stock, small stamps, a stamp pad, and directions.

These are just some ideas, you can make a kit for whatever craft you like, from paper (or magnet or shrinky dink) crafts to jewelry crafts to sewing crafts - maybe even something more out there, like a baking craft (include all the ingredients except liquids) or soap- or candle-making. However, make sure to check your partner's profile to make sure that the craft seems like something your partner would want and be able to do. Please don't send a specialized skill craft to someone who doesn't have that skill. For example, don't send a knitting craft to someone who doesn't knit, but basic hand sewing should be fine for everyone (unless your partner mentions arthritis or carpal tunnel).

If you have a special request, feel free to post it in a comment, but realize that it may not be granted and that anything within the guidelines is to be accepted graciously.

Down to the nitty gritty rules: + international + 4.5 rating and higher + at least one 5 rating in a real mail swap + no 1s in the last three months (PM me about unfair ratings) + not more than $10(US) before shipping

Now get out there, have fun, and try a new craft! If there is anything unclear or that I forgot, don't hesitate to ask.

I do not need any kits to do with yarn, knitting or crocheting please. I really would love to learn how to do ATC's or inchies. Another suggestion for me would be jewelry making supplies. Quilting kit would also be a good idea for me. Thanks!

I would LOVE to join this but I think the shipping might be too high for what I have planned if its international. I'll watch this.

I would really like to make a dotee to see how I like it. I would also like to sharpen my skills of making jewelry or stitch markers.

I´d love to join, please!! This is a GREAT idea! Ialso don´t need any kits for crocheting or knitting, instead I´d really like a softie kit, or quilting kit, or maybe try a polymer clay kit. Or maybe my partner surprises me! Thanks!!

This is so cool! I was just thinking I would start a swap like this and there's already one going. I like so many crafts I'm going to have a hard time deciding on just one to send!

Please everyone remember to post in the comments what type of kit you would like to receive/ what new craft you wish to learn so your partner can send you something you really want to receive. Thank you!

Next time I will do a USA only and an international craft kit swap. I really like the idea of this one.

What a great idea! I am also not looking for kits for crocheting or knitting, my ideal craft kit would be some kind of fabirc; maybe a plush or (in keeping the costs down) a fabric piecing kit where I would add the batting, etc to make it a quilt. Ooh or maybe a bookmaking kit. I'm pretty easy! Just not yarn, I have enough!

I would love to learn anything except scrapbooking and making jewelley from wire and beads (any other - like polymers, clays etc - I have no idea about ;) ). I know how to make a dotee doll but other sewing is a magic for me ;) I don't have any slightest idea how to knit.. To be honest I would be pleased with everything :)

Hi, I am open to anything except crocheting or knitting or weaving.

Other than that, open to anything!

Mux 05/21/2009 #
