I read a lot and lately I've been pounding craft books and other nonfiction. I like to read memoirs and biographies but autobiographies and as-told-to books kind of leave me cold.
I like to cook and collect receipes. When I really like a receipe I learn to make it without referencing the receipe. I make killer biscuits and cookies and eggplant parmesean.
I like lots of music, but my favorite bands are usually pop. I like Pulp, Aimee Mann, Joni Mitchell, Modest Mouse, lots of others. I'm loving the new Jarvis Cocker album!
I tend to favor sets of movies by directors and I love Robert Altman, Stanley Kubrick, P.T. Anderson, Douglas Sirk and lots more. Black and white movies are some of my favorites and I like a lot of the old screwball classics like The Women, Bringing up Baby, The Philadephia story and so on.
I like Deadwood and Six Feet Under and Friends. It's hard to think of any shows that are particularly current because I don't watch tv. If I watch tv I never get anything done plus I'm kind of convinced at this point that not watching a lot of advertisements has made me less succeptible to materialism. So I only watch shows that have been released to DVD. I'm no saint, though, I have a serious movie habit! I've been watching TV on Hulu and I love The Office and Hell's Kitchen.
I sew all the time. I also knit and crochet and do beadwork and pattern drafting and designing. Anytime I'm interested in anything I sit down and teach myself how to do it. I've been recycling a lot of yarn lately and knitting socks. I also find myself cranking out a lot of afghans, two for weddings and one for my sister's baby, due this July.
