Description:

Hi all. This is my second time organizing a swap. The first was two years ago, so be nice to me. :)

The idea behind this is Everyone gets a notebook. Decorate it if you like. You write three Sentences of a story,. (Once upon a time in a far far away land... ) Then send it on to the next person who writes the next three lines. Your story will be sent to everyone in the swap and the last person will send it back to you. Everyone will end up with a unique random story. We can then all publish them in the forum.

I used to do this as a kid and it was good fun. I hope you think so to. Feel free to add your own illustrations or decorations to the page. I hope you'll join me!

** Ideally you hide the first two lines and the next person only sees the last line to give the story that extra bit of mystery. I can't think of a way of doing this really, and I don't know about you guys, but I don't have a lot of self control. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know.**

So basically we'll get one partner and keep sending notebooks to them until our own notebook has returned to us? How do we rate - is it just when we receive the first notebook or not until our own notebook us returned to us? And you do realize this can be completely undone by a single flaker, right? :)

yup. I was in a circle journal swap in another group. My journal never got back to me and I made pages for a dozen other people. It's a great idea though. I hope it works for those who participate!

Actually this might make for a good email swap, both timing and ability to circumvent flakers.

vilandra 07/15/2009 #

No you send to every one, there was just no option to add that sorry for the confusion. :( I am aware that a flaker could ruin everything, and that is really frustrating, but I'm hoping that since there is little effort involved really that no one sould flake. And people shouldn't just sign up to get things as there's no monetary value to the items.

I was thinking emails might work better, but its nice to have something unique to hold.

well this looks interesting...a small, simple notebook would work, right? so that more than one page gets filled up, if we all only write 3 lines...

vilandra 07/16/2009 #

yeah a small note book. or a copy book. it can be cheap. I am considering doing it as an email swap now though.

Astraea 07/17/2009 #

on my watchlist =) I agree that having a physical copy of the story would make this so much cooler, but email would be easier...

vilandra 07/17/2009 #

Hi all, its been changed to email!. :)

Adrenaline 07/29/2009 #

aww shoulda kept this as actual books :( if you make another swap of the original let me know.

rottifan4 07/30/2009 #

I agree the actual book would be good but I may still participate.

Are we going to be assigned partners soon?

vilandra 08/ 9/2009 #

Hi all, I hope everyone is getting on okay. Just trying to add a more detailed description.

1) you send out 3 lines of your story to every partner. 2) each person will add on a line and send it to the next person. 3) you will get back 5 stories (as there are five of us in the group)

each person adds a line to your story in different places.

A) Each of your four partners will send you the first three lines of their story. B) You then add your three lines to it. (making sure to hide all but the last line) C) You send it on to everyone that hasn't added to it yet.

1) You will receive the stories form other people who have added lines 2nd or 3rd and add on the that. When every one has gotten everyone's stories, its done! we all have 5 random stories.

wow, this sounds complicated...

hope I made some sense. Best wishes,
