About Me

Hello! I'm just a girl who dabbles in all sorts of crafts. Currently I'm slowing down the crafting and swapping because life's getting a bit hectic, but I'm definitely still around :)

Some size reference for swaps....

Ring size: 6-6.5
Wrist size: 6" (Bracelet size: 6.5")
Anklet size: 9.5"
T-shirt size: S

My favourite colours are blue/navy, silver, green and black.

Swapping

First off, I won't flake! I love getting mail, and I'd hate for anybody to not receive something. Unfortunately, shipping from Canada may take longer, so international/US members...it may take awhile for your swap to arrive. If there's any concerns, please do PM me- I can't promise I'm on swap-bot everyday but I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Second, I rate as soon as I receive, so if I have not rated you, then I have not received the swap as of yet. Likewise, I do hope that if you receive from me you rate as soon as you can, since that's the only way I'll know that the swap didn't get lost in the mail.

Bad Swaps and Angels

Some swaps that just didn't work out:

MUST READ: Please Don't...!

This isn't a list of dislikes, but more of a warning.

I have family members with SEVERE PEANUT and NUT ALLERGIES. While I appreciate (and adore!) chocolate, candies and other things like that, I cannot have anything in the house that has touched nuts and peanuts, may have touched nuts and peanuts, or are made in a plant that also processes nuts and peanuts somewhere. This info is noted in the ingredients section of any food, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out =) There are plenty of companies out there that will process food with nuts and without nuts separately in different plants, and I don't think most people eat nuts on their work/craft tables where crumbs may get onto artwork, but this is just to make sure.

On another point, I'm personally allergic to red food colouring should I ingest it (yes, random, I know), so please, no red candy or food because I can't enjoy them! I'd much rather you send those to the lucky people who could eat them =)

Some other allergens in my household to note: animal (dog, cat, horse) fur, cigarette smoke- I don't care if you have pets or smoke, as long as your stuff doesn't arrive reeking in smoke and covered in fur, it's fine =)

Favorite Crafts

I mainly crochet, but have recently tried sewing (small hand-sewn projects, no sewing machine yet!), cross stitching and some paper crafts. I'm always open to learning new crafts and supplies to do so would be very much appreciated and put to good use.

Favorite Books

I'm an avid reader who will read almost anything, but my favourites have to be fantasy, historical fiction and science fiction. I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, LOTR, Jane Austen, L.M. Montgomery. the Narnia series, and Shopoholic, to name a few.

My Favourite Things!

I love anything handmade, but I do collect bookmarks (avid reader here) and ATC/ACEOs. I'll also love ANYTHING tiny and cute (just don't go insane on the kawaii stuff though) If you ever get stuck, looking through my wists should give a general idea of things I like...but I'm really not picky and I will probably love anything you send, honest.

I'd love:

  • journals, notebooks
  • any sort of stationery/writing supplies- can never have enough inky gel pens or note sets!
  • fountain pens and fountain pen inks...love all the colours out there! Would love to do personal trades for ink too, pm me.
  • jewelry, tend to like silver tones more than gold...I'm a minimalist with jewelry and don't like too much gaudy stuff; simple can have huge impacts too!
  • bags/totes, small coin purses/wallets/pouches
  • kits/supplies to learn new crafts- eg. ATC blanks, stamps, scrapbook paper, etc.
  • mail-related things and supplies. like envelopes, letter sets, stamps (used or new, real or fake), address labels, postal stickers, etc. I just love the idea of mail =) mailing supplies are also lovely.
  • Winnie the Pooh (Eeyore and Pooh are the cutest, imo)
  • something book-related: bookmarks, bookplates, etc
  • nature, nautical or night (stars/moon) themed
  • mythology (especially Greek/Roman and Norse) and fantasy
  • something soft and squishy to hug..I love stuffies!
  • stitch markers for crochet (markers can be opened)
  • any extra yarn/fabric you can't use
  • something music related- I play the piano and flute, and I love stuff with music notes on them
  • small charms for a charm bracelet and crafting

Favourite animals: penguins are the best! ...but also elephants and dogs.

As for food, I have an unhealthy obsession with dark chocolate and I love drinking tea, french vanilla, and Starbucks. Not into coffee though.

I love receiving anything from other countries like coins/stamps (used or new)/pressed pennies to add to my collections.

Comment: Hello Astraea, Thank you for the lovely package you sent me for the "1 2 3 Bookworm for Me" Swap. I am an avid reader so know the bookmarks will all get used as sometimes I will be reading more than one book. I will enjoy the bag of "Mike and Ike" candy while I read as well. It is soooo hot here right now that the hot cocoa may need to wait, but i will enjoy it when it is cooler. Thank you for your generosity. Hope we have some further encounters so we can swap more often. Have a nice summer. Barb sleepingrover2010
Response: You're welcome! I had fun making he bookmarks and putting the package together as well, and perhaps we will swap again sometime in the future :)

Comment: Thank you for the lovely stuffed mini-stocking. Did you make it? Beautiful! Enjoying all the little treats now :D
Response: I'm so glad that it finally got to you- I felt pretty bad that it wouldn't make it on time for Christmas with the postal mix-up. Yes, I did crochet the stocking myself; thought it'd be more fun to send a handmade one :) Enjoy the stocking, and Merry (belated) Christmas!

The books from Amazon arrived today - wow, THREE! They are all wonderful and I'll put them to good use, especially since they are all related to the things I like to swap. I really hope your package makes it there soon (fingers crossed.) Thanks so much! Ann

I changed the date on the Crochet Challenge Swap - Interactive. I would love to have you join this swap! I looked at the Narnia necklace - you know it's sold out? But it is so cool.

The Ernie keychain is too cute to use as a keychain (they tend to get dirty) so I plan on putting it on the knob of my lamp!! LOL

Thank you SO much for the beautiful earrings, I put them on right away and am wearing them back to work this afternoon! The cupcake bag is absolutely the most adorable thing, and I may have a fight on my hands with my daughter for ownership of it (I WILL win). Thank you so much!!

I love personalizing my belongings and I also like reading. To combine both, I came up with the idea of creating a profile related bookmark swap. This swap was created before the group.

Please feel free too visit my Profile Related Bookmark Swap and join.

Hoping we will have a lot of fun because I intend to do a series of them, but they will be within the Bookmarks of all kinds group that you can check and ask to join.

Happy swaps. Toupti =D
