Description:

Make a paper mache 'DEATH mask' either with your own face or with a balloon as instructed:

http://familycrafts.about.com/od/papermache/a/plmaskcraft.htm

This is not an actual 'death mask' that is filled with plaster, but an outline of a face decorated to wear or hang.

There will be no limits or correct ways of making your mask. It is a free interpretation of anythng you would like to receive. As long as it is paper mache and made by you.

Super easy! When is the last time you whipped up some paper mache paste? (instructions for that also on the website.)

Below a 4.8 off limits this time. Flakers will be exposed at the DUNCE CORNER so beware. I will be checking profiles.

C'mon, make a mask!

This mask can either be a mask to wear or wall art!!

redsockz 07/26/2009 #

I would need more time to create than 15 days. I'm a slow poke and PM takes a while to dry. I've always wanted to make one of these!

redsockz 07/26/2009 #

You can start making this now! That would give you many more days. :)

AAAHHH balloons! I have a phobia of balloons! I'll think about it @RyeRye Maybe it's just what I need to overcome my fear.

jadedmama 07/26/2009 #

Come on guys! Join! Did Ned agree to that or is that why its taking so long? lol!

RyeRye 07/27/2009 #

He absolutely flat refused me! Turd. I used a ballon and built up features with those plastic grocer bags and taped it on.
I also set it under my portable hair dryer and it worked great! Sooooo Myrr, I started it this afternoon and I will be able to sand and paint it tmrw! HINT HINT!

Somebody post a photo of what is going on with your creation so I can get (steal) an idea. No, I really do need a clue. About this swap, as well.

redsockz 07/27/2009 #

I can't post a photo....as it is almost DONE now! I can create another form as post a pic of that if you like?

LittleCakes 07/27/2009 #

This looks like so much fun!!! AAaaauuuggh...I've got too much on my plate for so short a send out date...hopefully we can do this again?!

KimberCow27 07/28/2009 #

You know, I did this in 8th grade for a project (oddly enough, I was the only one!), and I have a picture of the process I wouldn't mind posting. I don't have a picture of the finished product (or have it in my possession at all! the 6th graders wanted it as a raffle prize! =P), but I think you get a pretty good idea from the one I have!

RyeRye 07/28/2009 #

Did you post the picsture on your site? I'd luv to see it!
