Description:

This swap is open to all members with good ratings on at least 10 swaps. I will check ratings and ban those with too many low ratings or no sends.

This swap works differently than most swaps, so read the directions carefully.

For this swap, you will be sending to and receiving from the same person. You will send an image and a phrase clipped from a magazine, newspaper, junk ad, etc. The image and phrase should NOT be directly related.

When you receive your random image and phrase, you'll write whatever comes to you and send it to the person who sent you the image and phrase. Use whichever piece strikes you -- or both. It's up to you. You can write an article, a paragraph, a letter, a poem...anything that you are inspired to write based on the picture and/or phrase.

To make sure you are sending to the right person, follow these simple steps:

  1. Choose an inspiring image and phrase. Put it in an envelope ready to slap an address on it and mail.
  2. When you receive a notice from Swap-Bot that you have been matched up for this swap, don't do anything yet. Wait for an e-mail from me. I will give you the address of the person you will send the random image and phrase to. This will also be the person who sends to you the piece they write. So you'll be able to see how you inspired another writer.
  3. After you have sent your image and phrase, come back to Swap-Bot and find out who you are matched up with. Write the address of that person on a SECOND envelope. In this envelope you'll put the piece that you write. You should receive an image/phrase from this person.
  4. Once you receive your image/phrase, take time to let them inspire you. Then write whatever comes to you, put it in the second envelope, and send it off in the mail.

This swap has 2 deadlines. You have until August 4th to mail the random image/phrase. Then you have until August 25th to mail the piece that you write.

Hi, everyone! Thank you for joining this unique swap. You should have a message from me with the address of the person you send your random image and phrase to. Please mail these out as soon as possible, especially if you are lucky enough to be sending out of the country. The "official" deadline for mailing out your image and phrase is August 4th.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Have fun!

Susan, I got your random image a week or so ago. It sparked an idea immediately! I finally wrote out my story this weekend and will be mailing it off to you next week. I hope you enjoy it.

Would you all like to share your writing with everyone in our swap? I can create a blog where we could post our writings for everyone to see. Let me know if you are interested and I'll set one up.

Have fun!
