I really don't know much about the different formats of songs, I just pull them from CDs or iTunes and put them on a CD. Does anyone else know the difference between the formats?

i only know that some of my friends can't listen to .m4a files. maybe it's cus they don't use itunes or can't have them uploaded onto their mp3 (not ipod).

If you burn it from iTunes, and you BOUGHT it from iTunes, I don't think another person can listen to the song. It's encrypted or something to prevent people from selling the CDs they buy from iTunes.

iTunes is encrypted if you try to email a song to someone. If you burn it to a CD, the song will play fine. I send CDs burned from iTunes out all the time and haven't had anyone complain about not being able to listen to them.

I think he means the mp3 formatted CDs. Not everyone has a CD player that will play mp3 songs. I have one and I know several other people with them. Somethimes burned mp3 CDs will play in mine and not someone elses.
If you mean burning a mp3 to a CD, it will work fine as long as you don't select make a MP3 disc from iTunes. Hope this helps.
