Description:

As someone who is proud to show her spirituality, I'm starting a Goddess Doll swap.

I would like to see a swap that celebrates the Goddess.

Swap Details:

~ You will have ONE partner.

~ You must SEW a Goddess Doll.

~ Pick a pattern from here: Goddess Patterns Her patterns are quick and easy to do. OR you can make your own pattern, OR use one you've altered/previously purchased. If you use an online one, please include the link to the pattern in your package.

~Your fabric does not have to be felt. It can be cotton, or muslin, you pick.

~Embellishment is NOT required, nor is beadwork. A Simple cloth Goddess will do just fine. But of course, feel free to embellish your heart out. :)

~If you choose, you can design your own Goddess doll, but it must be made out of cloth.

OPTIONAL PATTERN: Dollmakers Journey

Requirements:

~This isn't a difficult or overly complicated swap. It also shouldn't be too expensive as the dolls made with her patterns are relatively small. As such, we'll see how this goes and I may host more than one of these.

~ You may make the doll as large as you want, but no smaller than 4 inches.

~ No one with No-Sends. I will not tolerate flakers.

~ If you have below a 4.8 rating, I will ban you. If you think you've gotten your rating unfairly, PM me and we'll talk.

~ No newbies. There are plenty of newbie swaps for you to get ratings. E-swaps DO NOT COUNT.

OPTIONAL: ~ It would be nice if you made the Goddess in your partners favorite colors. ~ If your partner has posted which Goddess/es she (or he!) is drawn to, it might be nice if you tried to tailor the fabric in their doll. Example: Say your partner is drawn to Aphrodite - Goddess of Love. Why not use heart print fabric? Or Hecate, maybe use black. Or Gaia - Earthy prints, maybe mountains and water.. who knows! The possibilities are endless!

THIS LINK Will help show what I mean

If you have any questions or know of questionable people signing up for this swap, please let me know and I will address it.

I wish I was that talented to make one :( I want one!

thiswillbegone 07/26/2007 #

No worries, I'll message you. I'm sure we'll be able to work something out! :)

They're very easy to stitch up, even if you're new to sewing. :)

boatbird 07/26/2007 #

Okay- so people know what Goddesses I like.. anything Greek! (I live in Cyprus and my name is greek (kathryn comes from the Greek word for pure/ clean) Also the colours I associate with the Goddess are more likely to be white, gold, blue and green. Looking forward to this one!!!

yowell 07/26/2007 #

I'd like to do this but don't know much about goddesses, so i'd like one that's maybe to do with happiness! :)

Omi 07/26/2007 #

As much as I'm a follower of anyone, I follow Athena, goddess of wisdom.

Sally 07/26/2007 #

I have just GOT to join this swap. I am not a follower of any particular goddess. They all have their own attractions!!! I guess I am probably closest to the moon

thiswillbegone 07/26/2007 #

Whoo hoo - 18 people already! :)

I did change the send by date to October 5th, just to give everyone an extra week. I know how crazy things are with back to school and all, sohere's hoping the extra week will do ya'll good. :)

user8565 07/26/2007 #

I am an omnitheist, but my pantheon is Celtic/Asian.

EmperorFool 07/26/2007 #

Great idea for a swap. I don't have a particular goddess I'm interested in, but I love celtic-type things. Really, though, I'm just curious to see what my partner comes up with, and I'm sure I'll like any goddess I receive!

TerryF 07/26/2007 #

Great swap idea! I am drawn to nature goddesses, e.g., water, sky, winter...

Sallenlouise 07/26/2007 #

I just looked at the patterns....I'm thinking I can do this. I'm just not that gifted at sewing. Ohhh, I'm joining!

thiswillbegone 07/26/2007 #

whoo hoo, this will be so much fun. :)

boatbird 07/27/2007 #

Wowo 30 people already this will be really fun!! :)

user9255 07/28/2007 #

mine is the Sun.

TerryF 07/28/2007 #

This is an excellent swap for anyone who wants to try their hand at sewing for the first time. I know that I would be quite happy to receive someone's very first sewn doll!

thiswillbegone 07/28/2007 #

I'd love anyones first attempt too!

It's not an overly challenging pattern! :)

I can't wait to see the results!

dwheeler 07/30/2007 #

OK... Selise said I should sign up for this swap, so I did! I am new to the whole idea of goddesses so I may need some guidance when the names are exchanged, OK? I can sew and will make a beautiful doll, but will need help with colors and symbols and such. As for myself, I am an EMT (emergency medical technician, ambulance medic)so any healer goddess would be fantastic. I am not sure what else to say except that I am finding this goddess religion facinating research! Thanks so much!

Sooty2Shoes 07/30/2007 #

I'm Native American and tend to gravitate towards Mother Earth. That counts, right? Hehe.

Twisted03Raven 07/30/2007 #

Here are some of my favorite goddess' Aine, Banba, Epona, Maeve, Cerridwin, Oonagh, Macha, Rhiannon....:)

thiswillbegone 07/30/2007 #

Znow - of course Mother Earth counts!

I'm Native too, Lenape and Creek. :)

dwheeler 07/31/2007 #

Well, I made a pattern based on the sample ones shown in the link you suggested. It will be 14 inches tall and just beautiful! It also will be very special as I am going to make while in San Francisco where (we just found out 10 minutes ago) my daughter will be undergoing in utero surgery to correct a heart defect in her unborn son. You can follow our adventure at the following site: www.babywithefe.blogspot.com

boatbird 08/ 1/2007 #

D-dwheeler- hoping that everything goes well xxxxx

chickenlil7000 08/ 6/2007 #

Oh, I am SO in!! This sounds like oodles of fun. As for myself, I am particularly reverent of Brid but do love all things ocean/water related as well. Aww shoot, who am I kidding? i will adore anything that is made for me!

CADLady 08/ 6/2007 #

I'm in. I'm a flamekeeper for Brighid, but I'd love to receive your work, no matter the deity. Esp'ly nice would be a doll in the image of your own Chosen One along with how that came to be. (Brighid beat me over the head for a long time before I got the clue-by-four.)

thiswillbegone 08/ 6/2007 #

oh I'm so glad that there are more people joining! This swap should be a lot of fun!

elasticcamel 08/ 6/2007 #

I love a lot of goddesses, so I asked my partner what goddess he thought seemed right for me and he suggested Isis. :)

pequad 08/ 7/2007 #

I am particularly drawn to the Black Virgin and Sophia, the wisdom principle, but likewise, I will be happy with any goddess my partner chooses to send. :o)

wyldIvy 08/ 8/2007 #

Oh This sounds like fun! I really like making something extra special for people. I have only reciently had a goddess jump into my life and say "Pay attention to me" I have gods that have meaning for me but working with a goddess is rather new to me. So I don't know all that much about her, but Freya it is! I'd love someone to make me a Freya goddess doll! Since I don't know a huge amount about her I think it would be wonderful to see what my partner comes up with for her.

thiswillbegone 08/ 9/2007 #

oh I hope everyone has a lot of fun with this swap - I think it'll be a great one!

LMM 08/11/2007 #

I am more a devotee of Ganesha...the female avatar is known as "Vinayaki", but anything representing education, knowledge, wisdom and/or wealth would be fabulous!

Phoenyx 08/11/2007 #

I am in.
She is the softness of the moon..
She is the whisper in the trees.. Her voice calls to me and I am safe.

Listen to Her voice within your heart on this one.. and I know I will get the right Goddess..

Blessed Be!

-Phoenyx

oreon 08/14/2007 #

This is such a great idea for a swap. My patron Goddess is Hekate. If my partner wants to know more, check out this website: http://www.avalonia.co.uk/gods_pagan/hekate/index.htm

Thanks

Prpldy 08/15/2007 #

I would be happy with any Goddess!

twobluecrows 08/16/2007 #

I started a basic goddess doll, but now really want to see who my partner is so I can customize it, or make a new one. I like making these dolls, and wish I had more opportunities--I don't have room in my tiny house to just make things for the fun of it--where would I put them all!?! :) Though there is found-art.com--that's always an option that I keep forgetting about. I may just make a few! Cyn

twobluecrows 08/16/2007 #

For my goddess, I favor anything crow-related, blue or not! I lean toward watery elements, celtic reconstructionism and celtic knotwork is my favorite design element, along with stars and moons, blue and silver. But, as others have said, I will be very happy with whatever your creativity produces for me! Art is magic all in itself. Cyn

Moominbrooke 08/19/2007 #

Earth or Ocean for me.

carniemichelle 08/23/2007 #

I still looking for my goddess to speak to me

JunieMoon 08/23/2007 #

This is a truly inspiring and exciting swap idea. I'm so tickled to join in this celebration of our spirituality. I love the basic Goddess doll pattern and would love to make one for someone. My own interest is in the ocean, specifically mermaids. Having said that, I honestly am happy with anyone's interpretation of a Goddess doll, mermaid or not.

cerwinrhiannon 08/26/2007 #

Any Goddess is fine for me.

I had signed up for this before, but then dropped out, due to working 12 hr days all summer. Since the due date has been pushed back a week, I think I can do it.

Blurg 08/27/2007 #

I'm joining this, even though I don't claim a particular special goddess, and don't sew much. Seems like a great creative opportunity... I'm thinking about beads. I like that there are several non-sewers taking a stab at this!

threesweetpeas 08/28/2007 #

JunieMoon 08/28/2007 #

I'm ready to start making my Goddess doll but don't want to begin until I know who my partner will be so I can customize the doll. Will this information be posted or will I receive an email about it? I apologize if it's already posted and I just don't see it. This really is so thrilling to me and I thank you for letting me join in the adventure.

thiswillbegone 08/28/2007 #

partners are now assigned!

Moominbrooke 08/28/2007 #

And Selise...what is your preference?

RobinT 08/29/2007 #

I follow a Celtic/Faery path. I'm pretty easy to please so anything Celtic, elemental or seasonal would rock. Brigid is my patron Goddess.

twobluecrows 08/30/2007 #

Sorry I forgot to assign partners earlier and the Swap-bot had to do it. My son was in the hospital since last Monday, but he's home again now, so all is fairly well again.

I need a goddess that's all about happiness and good things, sparkly, shiny, blue and encouraging to me after all this hectic craziness this year!

Cyn

twobluecrows 09/ 3/2007 #

Silly me--please delete or at least ignore my last post--I'm not the host here, but meant to post this elsewhere--see how distracted I was? I really do need a helpful happy goddess! ;) Cyn

dancingfaerie 09/ 8/2007 #

I didnt see a link for joining the doll swap. I'm interested. Rhonda

DreamHope 09/13/2007 #

Yowell: Your goddess doll is on the way. I hope you like her!

dancingfaerie 09/15/2007 #

I'm too late for the Goddess Doll swap, any chance you will run this swap again? Rhonda

yowell 09/18/2007 #

Dreamhope..my goddess arrived this morning...she's gorgeous, thank you so much!! I love the flowers with the dewdrops on them...she IS a goddess of happiness because she definately made me smile!! :)

JunieMoon 09/19/2007 #

Boatbird--I am so tickled that you safely received my package and are enjoying it. I worried over how long it might take for mail to go from Tucson to the Cyprus area but it didn't take long at all. Thank you so much for your lovely note as well as the rating and the little heart.

I hope Amphitrite brings you much joy and many blessings.

Moominbrooke 09/20/2007 #

Selise- the Spiral Goddess is on her way :0)

JunieMoon 09/27/2007 #

Betsy, your beautiful Goddess Doll has safely arrived and I love her. Such wonderful details in her creation, amazing! Thank you so very much.

LMM 09/28/2007 #

My little wisdom goddess arrived today from E-F! She will have a place of honor on my altar!

twobluecrows 09/30/2007 #

This is a very lo-o-n-g swap! I know I mailed early, but it's such a long wait now for mine to come!

I guess I'll just have to be patient. Selise, can you give me a hint when I might expect it? :) Cyn

twobluecrows 09/30/2007 #

There are only two pictures in the gallery, can we see some more???

Cyn

RobinT 10/ 1/2007 #

I mailed my doll out to Kelli in Tasmania this morning.

LMM 10/ 2/2007 #

I uploaded the Wisdom Goddess E-F sent to me and also the doll I sent today.....

CadLady...if you want to be surprised, don't look!

Prpldy 10/ 3/2007 #

Mine is going out today.....to Oregon and I will upload the picture also.

yowell 10/ 5/2007 #

Hi Wild-ivy, Freya's on her way to you....hope you like her, she was fun to do....I think we're having postal strikes here so I hope she's not delayed! :)

cerwinrhiannon 10/ 5/2007 #

My Goddess is in the mail to Omi-San today.

JunieMoon 10/ 7/2007 #

Selise, thank you for hosting this swap. I've received my beautiful Goddess and my partner has received hers so I guess this concludes the swap for me. I appreciate the opportunity to learn something new and apply it into something I could make.

Blessed Be, June

twobluecrows 10/27/2007 #

Not a peep from Selise in a long time, what happened? I still have received nothing in the mail, and no message about it being late or anything! Cyn

pequad 11/ 9/2007 #

I never got anything either. :o(

LMM 11/29/2007 #

I angel-ed twobluecrows and posted a picture of the doll I made her in the gallery. Pequad seems to have left swap-bot recently, and the other person who didn't receive is gerijones64, but I don't see any goddess info from her in the thread :(

Did anyone else need to be angel-ed for this swap?

twobluecrows 02/ 5/2008 #

LMM, thanks so much for the beautiful Goddess, she keeps me cheery! Cyn
