Okay, I have not seen this type of swap around lately. I was surfing the web and I came across this. So, hopefully this isnt banned or something. But it sounds super fun and I really want to try it. :) Basically, it is usually called a MAgic Yarn ball but because I don't knit and only sometimes crochet, I am adding ribbon as part of the winding process. So it can be used by all crafters. :) basically, you wind the yarn/ribbon around a circular item (it could be a bouncy ball, pincushion, etc in the midddle) and you continue wrapping until it gets bigger. As you are wrapping you tuck in little surprises inside. The surprises can be and are not limited to: Stickers, beads, bracellets, candy, charms, spools of thread, little fabric goodies, buttons, etc. Just little things you can add in. The point is when you recieve the ball of goodies you unravel it and you get all the goodies inside. The ball is sometimes adorned with a little charm or "head piece" to make the ball cuter. And usually at the end of the winding process you can have some of the goodies sticking out. :) http://whipup.net/2006/04/25/kids-yarn-project-the-magic-wool-ball/ That is a site that I discovered while searching. It talks about the yarn balls. So, you are making your magic yarn/ribbon ball out of yarn and ribbon. Just tie the ribbon pieces and yarn together to make a large strand. The ball should be atleast 6 inches long and 5 inches wide. You can make it bigger if you want, but thats the round about length and width. Include as many goodies inside as you can. This is sender's choice. Make it something you would love to recieve. :) Rules: You must have atleast 10 package 3 rated 5 swaps. No recent ones or nosends. I will be checking profiles before assigning partners. Have fun and be creative. :) |
