Scrap Paper Soup #2 – USA Only

I'm hosting an international version too. http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/66058

Let’s share paper scraps. I know you all must have them. I’m talking about the bits & pieces left over from our various art projects. You know, the ones you just can’t bear to throw away, thinking they’ll be good for something in the future (smile). However, the thing with me is that I forget to use them and instead cut what I need from a bigger piece, and then I end up with even more scraps. A vicious cycle it is…

You will send each of your 2 partners at least 25 different scraps. Please send a nice variety of paper colors & sizes (cardstock, textured paper, decorative paper, handmade paper, scrapbook paper, etc.) Please do not send: magazine pages, calendar pages, newspaper, plain copier-type paper, or plastic material. This swap is sender’s choice on colors. (If you get a color you don’t care for, you could always re-gift it, or be brave and try creating with a color that's new to you).

Minimum scrap size: 1" x 3” Maximum scrap size: your choice

This is an easy swap and it’s open to everyone, as long as you have a well-filled out profile. If you sign up, please follow through and send your swap. No one likes flakers – please play nice!

Here are a few ideas for using scraps:

  • Thin strips make nice borders – you can even punch a decorative edge.
  • Stamp a word on a scrap. Cut out (or tear out for rough edge) and adhere to another layer for a colorful frame. You could then adhere that to another layer and so on, for several colorful frames.
  • Paper weaving
  • Randomly collage for a neat background

OMG ... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! for this swap. This is going to be the best.

I have soooooooooo many scraps. I've tried all different ways of storing them ... ways that should remind me that I have them, so I'll use them- I've even but them in pretty trays ... right out on my desktop - but even though they are right in my face, I still forget to use them. Each time I promise myself (after scolding myself for doing so) that I'll not forget the next time but when next time comes, I forget - I seem to always reach for the fresh new sheet. My scrap stash is really getting out of hand and I'm running out of pretty, cutesy decorative holders and places to display them. But I just can't bring myself to "throw" them away - heck I'm so bad, when I cut something out with a punch or with my Cricut, I look at the pieces left behind and if I (and most of the time I do) see a "shape" that could be used as an element on a card, I stick it in the envelope marked "usable cut shapes." I know ... I've got it bad. {sigh}

Since where I kind of started with my paper journey is with making cards, a lot of my scraps are the perfect size for mats on A2 cards and for matting small/wallet size photos or full length 1-2" strips that are good for borders.

You have no idea how happy and excited I am right now. I'm redoing my craftroom and this paper issue was one of my dilemmas; now I have an option. Yipppppeeeee!

ps: No, I’m not crazy. Ok … the jury may be out on that one, but for real, I’m just really happy to have a solution to what was about keep my happy place from being so happy.

@1CraftyLady - LOL! You are not alone in your "never wanting to throw scraps away," although lately I've come to the conclusion that's it's ok to do this and if you can believe it, right now, at home there are scraps in my waste basket! I can hear some of you thinking...how can she do this?
