Description:

In this swap, you will make and send to your partner 10 handmade envelopes. The challenge? To use a variety of media to make the envelopes. Patterned paper, magazine pages, book pages, whatever you have around. The 10 envelopes must all be made using different papers (no duplicates). They should be any mailable size (so no tiny envies or overly huge ones). The envelopes should be usable, and mailed in a way that will prevent them from getting bent up, wrinkled or torn. Nice quality envies only please! **EDITED TO ADD:*** YOU DO NOT have to include a way to seal the envelopes. If you choose to do so, that is up to you, but it is NOT a requirement of this swap.

USA only, sorry! I will be checking profiles, so no recent 1's or 3's. Newbies are welcome with a WELL filled out profile. I will ban anyone who seems suspicious.

Please send ON TIME, and as always rate promptly and fairly! I will ban known non-raters! Any questions, please PM me.

I'm new to making envelopes and would love to give this a try. I have only one template if that is okay (is a mailable size).

I'm new to it too...but have wanted to give it a try! Thanks for hosting!

The best and most easiest way to make envelope templates (I think) and even better - it's FREE! - - is to gently take apart any envelope you have on hand, trace around it, and you now have a template. If you like it, trace it onto heavier cardstock or cardboard for a stronger template.

I've made lots of templates this way. Start looking at all the envelpoes you have on hand or receive from others. Whenever I see an envelope, I think "template!"

Hope this helps!

@Rubyfreckles - great swap; I love to make & send handmade envelopes!

Another idea: It's a great way to recycle calendar pages.

One last note: If you do use a magazine page or other "flimsy-type matieral, it helps if you can make it a little stronger by gluing it to a piece of copy paper or something that will help make it stronger for mailing. Just my 2 cents.

someone PM'ed me asking if it has to be from 10 different media sources. No... just 10 different envies... so 10 different papers/patterns, etc. (so you could have 2 from childrens book, but not the same page, etc)

Yeah!! Now I will join. Thank you for clearing all this up. I was a bit confused too. :)

I was gonna ask if we could do 10 from wallpaper samples and 10 from scrapbook paper as long as it is different designs. Is that ok??

Hi I make my envies from a map and each section is different even though it is same state , is that okay ?

Rubyfreckles 07/ 3/2010 #

They just have to be 10 distinctively different envies. 10 made from a map would not be distinctively different to me. 10 made from very different types of patterned paper would be. 10 made from different sections of a larger piece of paper (a map, same pattern wall paper), etc, while not identical are not distinctively different. I hope that is clearer.
