Description:

This is a new swap series for various sized fabric YOYO’s which will often include buttons or other embellishments.

R#1 STACK-N-SWAP

YOYO Stack = at least two (or more if you want) stackable YOYO’s in different sizes that accent or coordinate with each other and one medium to large button for on top (100% cotton prints or plain fabric, this round is senders choice)

Summary: 1 partner receiving 4 YOYO Stacks = total of at least 8 YOYO’s made and sent and at least 4 accenting buttons (do not permanently attach the YOYO’s and buttons in each stack)

Round #1 of Yearning for YOYO’s finds us making & sending 4 YOYO Stacks to one partner. Each YOYO Stack must be made from at least 2 different sized YOYO’s of accenting fabrics, print or plain, senders choice this round. If senders want to make more than 2 YOYO’s per stack, that is fine too - print or plain in any size they choose. To finish off each YOYO Stack, add one medium or large button for on top! The button must actually accent or match one of the colors in the YOYO’s. You can even send stackable buttons too. Think yoyo corsage with a button center on top!

If you decide to have more than two YOYO’s in any stack, you may repeat a print or color one time in that stack, but any two YOYO’s from the same fabric must be different sizes. You may mix and match your 4 YOYO Stacks so they will be interchangeable, or you may make up to 2 YOYO Stacks exactly alike which means you will have at least 2 different sets of YOYO Stacks. If you are really feeling creative you can make all 4 YOYO Stacks different.

Each YOYO Stack should NOT be permanently assembled. After you make each YOYO Stack and pick the button/buttons for on top, you can simply stack them together in a zippy bag or do a basting stitch to hold them together for mailing. That way the recipient can use them together or apart as they see fit.

Have fun matching fabrics, either print or plain and adding buttons to see what kind of interesting results you can create. As always, send what you would want to receive.

In R#2 of Yearning for YOYO’s we will make a “Variety Pack” for recipient’s choice of basic color or print YOYO’s.

Is there a maximum size for the biggest yoyo in any one stack please?

perkl8r 09/28/2010 #

well not for this round, if you want to add a giant yoyo to one of your stacks...I'd say go for it.....although a giant yoyo wouldn fit most projects.....I wouldn't mind receiving a 6" (across) yoyo as the largest in a stack.....but I don't have any set plans for my YOYO Stacks...I love having them on hand and then all of a sudden I'll start a project, look at my YOYO' stacks and say...wow that yoyo is exactly what this project needs

a large yoyo might inspire someone with a new quilting idea, or a new YOYO project

but if a maximimum size would help...how about thinking 6" across or smaller?....

clarification

...."how about thinking 6" across or smaller?"....I should have added FINISHED YOYO'S, which means you'd start with a much bigger circle before gathering to end up with a 6" across yoyo.

swap-on buddies!

thanks for clarifying :-)
