Description:

Ready for another round?

This is such a simple quilt block and it's definitely addictive!! So get out your scraps and leftover jelly roll strips and join us. This swap is for all levels of quilters. It doesn’t matter - you just need to be accurate

You will be making 4 blocks each for your 2 partners (a total of 8 blocks). You will also send along 5(five) "strings" of fabric, each at least 12" long, for each of your partners' stash.

INSTRUCTIONS:

We will use the foundation fabric method. This means that we use a piece of muslin or flannel as the base for our square, to stabilize the square and also to make it easier to put it together. Please use this method – do not use the paper piecing method. The blocks we are making will be 6 ½ inches, when finished. I would recommend that you make your fabric base about 7 inches, so that if there is any “shrinkage” due to sewing, there is a bit of extra room to compensate for it, and you can just trim the squares after you are done.

REMINDERS:

--- It is very important to iron each strip down as you sew it.

--- The same fabric can only be used in a square 2 times.

--- The squares are supposed to be scrappy. The scrappier the better! So please don’t try to coordinate things. Just grab a strip and sew.

--- Strips should VARY IN WIDTH, BUT BE NO WIDER THAN 1 ½ inches UNFINISHED (BEFORE being sewn down). This will allow for the squares to have about 10-14 different fabrics each.

--- Please use decent quality 100% cotton fabric.

RULES (sorry about that):

--- You must have a rating of at least 4.90 with no “1”s in the last 3 months.

--- You need to have at least 10 mailed/package swaps that you have been rated for.

--- I will review each profile before partners are assigned, and reserve the right to remove you from the swap if need be.

--- If there are “circumstances”, email me and we will try to work things out.

Newbies, if you are interested in a private swap, let me know.

I will angel this if needed, but I will not be happy about it. I will let everyone else know about it, and will ban you from any future swaps.

Also, you don't really need to wait til partners are assigned. So get out the old machine, and have some fun!!! Hope you will join us!!

I joined this swap because of our recent private swap. :) IF there is any problem with my joining please let me know. Thanks!

I used to turn all my leftover fabric into strips for log cabin patchwork, and this swap is a good excuse for building up another stack.. Great fun!

Your picture has me a little confused -- my impression is that it shows four 6-12 inch squares put together. Please confirm that that is correct.

I made a couple of these strip quilts last year, it's a truly super way to use up scraps since I can't bear to throw away perfectly good cuttings from my quilts.

June, I've done several of these swaps hosted by beancounter17. You make and send four separate 6 1/2" blocks to each partner. The picture just shows four of the blocks placed together.

That's what I thought, but since it's been a while and you're a different host for the swap I wanted to make sure ... and incidentally clarify in case anyone who hasn't done this before would be clear too. I'm starting to sew tomorrow.

@craftyscrapygirl Jelly rolls are precut strips of fabric, usually an entire collection, sold rolled up together. Moda fabric line sells them.

@TC thanks for clarifying the swap for @junemoon I should have put up a different graphic for this swap that was less confusing. I have changed it now.
