To describe myself is never singular….. Lot’s of hats have been worn, new hats are upon me also. I see myself as an oldie, but embarking on new and young-best-of-life stuff. To be 55 years old…. I’m makin the best of the rest of my life. I’ve been married for 35 years, and I have three adult children (girl-boy-girl) who live in the city/or within 4 hrs) Those are the first facts…
I tend to be seasonal in my music selection…. Then I’m mood-specific. Preference is gospel, old-time hymnals, and Kirk Franklin, Mary-Mary, T.D. Jakes, Yolanda Adams,Vickie Wynans, Kurt Carr and those who echo the Lord’s desire and presence in spirit and truth. Music serves as a prayer guide for me. The Gospel accord to JAZZ-Kirk Whalun, Sounds of Blackness screams out at me, Tri-City Singers are old favorites. A little bit of Luther Vandross and Al Green and James Brown to top off soulful sounds, and finally it’s huge when the Christ-Child holidays arrive, a winter-wonderland of snow, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, This Christmas will be…. A very special Xmas to me!!!
I am a rebel at heart, so I like the shootem-up, bang, bang movies of Clint Eastwood. Period. All of them. His Bridges Over Madison County was just too slow and mushy! Add a lot of Denzel Washington to my movie greats – He did Preachers Wife which was soft and lovable. HEAT was terrific in the city streets shoot-out! I am a screamer too….. I watched Godfather as a first teen movie… and the suddenness of an open door-shots fired-drop out of sight….. impact is too much. Sometimes I walk out of the theater if I like the main guy… just can stand to see-im die. Oh, well, no explanation… but that’s me for the time being….I'm gonna skip TV and go to crafts !!!!!
I’m the old home-econ kid of the 70’s highschool scene. Luved my teacher.. made an apron, and I still have the class cookbook 30 yrs later. I love kitchen utensils and cabinets… but not a great lover of cookin, cleanup and dishes and oven stains. I can thread any sewing machine, I spend lots of time at quilt shops and garage sales lookin for unusual sewing collectibes or fabric types. A quilter – authentic patchwork, crazyquilter. When the kids grew up, left home – I took the rooms for my sewing. Never regretted it!
