Well swapping friends, things are getting crazy busy around here so I am going to take a break from Swap-Bot. Thanks for all your wonderful swaps, its been great meeting you.
I'm finishing up these 3 swaps and then staying away until mid-September. If anyone wants to write me, in Spanish even, you are welcome to and I will write back. Next week my kids and I are going on vacation for a week, then our County Fair is coming up. Our dd's are in 4-H and we literally move to the fair for almost a week. Then our community puts on the concessions at a state rodeo, which I coordinate. And then the big kids start back to school, so, whew. In between I'll be putting up the garden.
I don't lament this busyness, it is a good time to practice living in His Presence, Practicing HIs Presence. The only way to live with peace.
Today i have 3 boxes of apricots needing to be put into jam, plus the freezer to clean out to make space for the coming broccoli crop, after getting these swaps in order. Time to get my priorities in line and keep them that way !!
The veggie garden is finally up and growing !! It has been a late Spring here. Our motto for the corn is," Ankle high by the 4th of July". We did get to eat our first zucchini from the greenhouse, yea !!
One of my latest adventures is to get practiced up on my high school Spanish. That was a looong time ago. The Lord kind of brought it back for me 4 - 5 years ago when I met a lady from Peru who spoke no english and needed someone to talk to. Now there is a lady in our church from Nicaragua. She wants to learn English and I want to get better at Spanish, so we get together once a week for study. It is the highlight of my week.
I am a stay at home mom, 3 kids - 2 teen dds, 1 ds . A former homeschooler, planning on continuing with our new son. Since we are always teaching, it just fits in. We live on a ranch in a very rural area. I enjoy animals, sewing, stamping, knitting. The girls are teenagers - yikes. Our ds is 2 yrs old and very busy.
I have sheep and like to have a veggie garden, baking, trying new recipes, cooking,We raise all our veggies and Spring is a time for watching the snow melt and the tomatoes sprout. Also I like to help in ministries.
We don't get radio very well at home unless someone is standing right next to it. In the car I listen to Christian radio, public radio or country. I like instrumental Jewish music, old rock, old country, Smoky Mtn music and the occasional Dueling Banjos !
The books I am most interested besides my Bible are biographies of people that have lived in other cultures. Generally I like true stories. I have a shelf full of YWAM missionary biographies. Rught now I read Good NIght Moon alot !
Hmmm, we only watch videos or DVDs, no satellite so ... Chariots of Fire, Mary Poppins, Cars, Ever After, Walking Across Egypt, Veggie Tales Jonah, Walking Away the Pounds ! Latest good movie we've been watching is "Radio".
I like any crafts with color in them. So yarn qualifies, as does papercrafts, card making, fabric, quilting, weaving. Someday I would really like to learn more about painting, watercolor or oil. I also like to write stories and look forward to that time when I "retire".
I collect small watering cans and like all things to do with tea. Stationary is one of my favorite things and I like to put notes in with almost everything I mail. One of my favorite places is going outside to our garden, or an early morning bike ride down to the river.
Favorite places include; looking out my kitchen window at the bird feeder, snuggling with our son, driving and yapping with our daughters, walking on the foothills looking for wildflowers, kneeling on the warm dirt in the garden eating fresh peas, hand feeding grain to a few of my favorite sheep and scratching their chins, watching baby lambs race around, relaxing on the couch with my hubby, sitting at our table having tea with a friend.
I like to cook simple meals, but have a terrible time with the crockpot. Several times a year I cook for a crowd of up to 20 on ranch workdays. Baking bread is great fun for me. My dh works hard and can eat as many snacks as I can put out, plus I host Bible study and make appetizers, etc for that. In the summer we have a veggie garden and I cook alot with veggies of all kinds. Menu planning is something I'm learning and want to get lots of ideas for make ahead meals. We use beef, chicken, pork, lamb, grains, etc.
Things I stay away from include: occult, obscenity, tattoos, romance fiction.
I generally have my swaps ready and waiting for the start date, so if yours doesn't come in a reasonable time please send me a message. So far there hasn't been any problems with the mail, but you never know.
There was the time it took 5 weeks for my folks to get their personalized street sign for Christmas !!
