What's Happening in my Life

2019 is here!!

POSTCARD: I love State or Country PC; Map PC- . I like mine with a note/quote/recipe please & postmarked unless the swap sez differently. I love TOURISTY PC the best. Not really into the Vintage.^Thank you!

Christmas Card Request: Please don't write on the back of the front of the card-so I can re-use for other Swap projects. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

9 Jan Wed: Traded my Leased 2018 Honda Civic in and bought a 2019 Honda Fit.

10 Dec Mon: If it is not one thing it is another!! I broke out with Excema down the entire right side of my body. I am absolutely miserable. Already been to the Doctor! Never had this before and am trying to learn everything about it and what to do.

6 Dec Thurs: Finally got rid of the gorilla sitting on my chest. I have been doing Christmas Cards this week. It is to late to send packages-so they will get sent the day after Christmas.
Reason: The Bethlehem Post Office is swamped this time of year. People actually come from other towns to mail to get the Bethlehem Postal Stamp.

29 Nov Thurs: Just back from second trip to Drs and CVS...bacterial bronchitis. Never made the Potato Salad! At this rate, I might be skipping Christmas too!~ Hopefully I have enough Stamps to mail out Swaps

BUTTONS: I love all kinds of buttons. Would love to get more Dogs, Cats and Novelty type.

FAVORITE CHRISTMAS RECIPE: Try it once and let me know what you think!

EVER-SO-EASY FRUITCAKE 2-1/2 Cups Unsifted Flour 1 teaspoon Baking Soda 2 Eggs, slightly beaten 1 (28-oz) jar Non Such Ready-to-Use Mincemeat 1 (14-oz) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk) 2 Cups (1-lb) Mixed Candied Fruit 1 Cup coarsely chopped Nuts

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Generously grease a 9 inch Tube pan (here is where I coat with Sugar not flour) Sift together flour & Baking Soda; set aside. In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients; blend in dry ingredients. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour-15 minutes. Cool 15 minutes. Turn out pan. Garnish as desired-I sprinkle with Powdered Sugar. TIP: When cooled thoroughly; wrapped in aluminum foil; refrigerate or freeze. *I have a 6-part individual fluted pan that I use which is great for Gift giving.

ESG: Quick Friendly profile comment: wendrfl Hi Linda! I hope you had a wonderful 'button' crafting Christmas season. There are so many cool things you can do with buttons.

I can understand the mail backlog at Christmas but it must be kind of cool living in a town named "Bethlehem".

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!

Hey there! Hope you're doing well today!

I really love that fruitcake recipe you listed here. I'm always leery of fruitcake, but your recipe sounds tempting.

And now, let me offer a kind of recipe in exchange, since I see you like Jello. This is actually household illness remedy we use. It's really good for when you have a sore throat, but we pretty much use it anytime we feel sick at all. It may be a placebo effect on the illness, but I don't care.

  1. Heat water hot enough to drink without scalding mouth/throat.
  2. Add 1/4-1/3 pkg of lime or lemon Jello to a mug and add the hot water, stirring until dissolved.
  3. Drink and repeated as needed.

Have a lovely day and rest of 2018!

"When autumn darkness falls, what we will remember are the small acts of kindness: a cake, a hug, an invitation to talk, and every single rose. These are all expressions of a nation coming together and caring about its people." -Jens Stoltenberg

“Besides, the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.” ― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like. Author: Augustine

“I want to stand beside you. I want to learn to fight with you. I won't accept you as a protector. But I will accept you as something else. Something far greater. ”

Book quote, September

"My stomach broke into pieces and spun like a kaleidoscope. Dimly I saw my hand reaching toward it, lifting it to my nose. Cheap ink and old paper. It felt hot, but my arms prickled with goosebumps. I ripped it open."

Autumn5 on Sep 1, 2018:

Book Quote - August

“Over time, Xan had started making certain preparations - a blanket woven of the softest lamb’s wool to wrap the child and keep it warm, a stack of cloths to freshen a wet bottom, a bottle or two of goat’s milk to fill an empty tummy. When the goat’s milk ran out (as it invariably did - the trek was long, and milk is heavy), Xan did what any sensible witch would do: once it was dark enough to see the stars, she reached up one hand and gathered starlight in her fingers, like the silken threads of spider’s webs, and fed it to the child. Starlight, as every witch knows, is marvelous food for a growing infant. Starlight collection takes a certain knack and talent (magic, for starters), but children eat it with gusto. They grow fat and sated and shining.”
