Hi all, Well, first things first: my name’s Kel, but usually when I’m out and about on the internet I tend to go by some variant of ‘Copper’ so feel free to call me either. Currently I’m studying at college with hopes of reading Celtic Civilisations and History at University next year. I have a wonderful little dog named Ollie, who’s a cross between a Lhasa Apso and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel; basically a ball of fluffed up fur and absolutely adorable to boot.
If for any reason a swap from me doesn’t arrive, please could you give me a heads up so I can resend it/send a substitute/ chase up why it didn’t arrive before giving me a bad rating. I always aim to rate, if I haven't don't be shy to give me a reminder. Thanks in advance.
Music, it seems no matter what I’m doing there’s a constant stream of music in the background. Though I think my taste in music is fairly varied: I absolutely love Led Zeppelin and most ‘classic rock’, but I’m also a huge fan of Evanescence, Jefferson Airplane, Donovan, The Goo Goo Dolls, Dylan, Suzanne Vega, My Chemical Romance, Steam Powered Giraffe, Bullet for My Valentine, Bowie, Adam & The Ants, Biffy Clyro, The Cure, The Doors and Starsailor to name a few. There’s nothing quite like discovering a new band, and few things top attending a concert, (aside from attending a festival, and I’m definitely a Glastonbury Addict).
Where to begin? Books are yet another passion of mine; I’ll read almost anything I can get my hands on, though I tend to lean more towards classic literature than modern, in particular Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemmingway, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Walter Scott, H.P. Lovecraft and Sir Thomas More to name but a few. On the more modern side, I’m a great lover of Dystopian/Utopian themes, Science-Fiction, Steampunk and Fantasy genres, at the moment I’m working my way through Naomi Novik’s ‘Temeraire’ series and rereading a little of Lovecraft’s earlier works.
I also have a few artbooks and some graphic novels/comics such as Calvin and Hobbes and Lackadaisy which are great to peruse on a lazy afternoon.
As with music, my tastes in films are really broad: I love everything from make-you-think films like Inception; classic horrors and thrillers like The Shining; not so classic horror; good old British romantic comedies by the genius of Ben Elton and Richard Curtis such as Love Actually; Political films such as Brassed Off, Fantasy titles like Stardust, in which Robert De Niro’s played a brilliant role; X-men First Class, despite it's obvious shortfalls and the odd animated film, Disney’s Treasure Planet has been a favourite of mine since I first saw it as a child, and Stitch may just be the greatest Disney character ever conceived.
I can’t say I watch a great deal of TV, there are a few programmes I will watch when they’re on, but there always seems to be periods where I watch very little television: Once Upon a Time (still waiting for series two here in the UK), Death in Paradise, The Big Bang Theory, Miranda and Not Going Out. Oh and Qi!
Most of my favourite series were discontinued quite some time ago: The Young Ones, Blackadder, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, the Vicar of Dibley, Star Trek, Only Fools and Horses and Red Dwarf (possibly my favourite television series ever!).
I’d never heard of whimsy jars before joining this site, and they look amazing! But other than that I think all sorts of crafty things are awesome, and can’t wait to see more of the awesome swaps that go on her at Swapbot!
I love to cook, though I often cook very chaotically, just throwing ingredients that I think work well together into a bowl and hoping for the best! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t! But don’t worry, all the recipes I send as a swap are tried and tested first.
I have a small cactus on my desk named James (Jim).
