À Propos de Moi

I'm a little shy, kinda smart, very sarcastic, mostly funny, quite interested, terrible at small talk, love dark, morbid, and poetic, but cringe and avoid at all costs gore, guts, and chainsaws. I can be inspired by warm and fuzzy, but terrible at comforting. I might tell you what you want to hear and I might mean it. My intentions are honesty, but little white lies can be my specialty. I can be entertaining if you deserve it and appreciate it. I'm a good friend, but I probably won't call or write...very often. I am who I am, but ultimately if you are too needy we may not get along.

I am 35, currently living in Mississippi because my husband is in the USCG. I am the wife of an awesome man and the mum of the perfect son. We hope to have another little bundle of joy so I reeeeally need to get caught up on all my projects. Eek! I started scrapbooking when I was pregnant with my little boy and my love of creating has grown by leaps and bounds since. If I had to describe my style it would be DISTRESSED! ...Basic Grey meets Tim Holtz. I very much love the unkempt look. I think this might be because in my actual life everything has to be perfect, but in scrapbooking it can be any way! I have been giving a go at polymer clay and altering various objects (so far I would say I am not too bad at it). I love learning new crafts!

Mind Fillers

Twilight Saga! --MmmmEdward!, The True Blood Series, The Dark-Hunter Series, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, I enjoy anything by E.E. Cummings, Pablo Neruda, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe, ...and so on...

What I crave...

I love anything vintage. I am always looking for Ephemera items. I am learning how to incorporate just anything into a project. I cannot live with out my distress ink and paper distresser! My favorite color is any shade of orange, reds, blues, greens, and I prefer silver and copper to gold (but I do not hate any color especially). I love all things old, metal, glass, worn, new, things that glitter, sweet things, pretty things, unusual things, things that bite, etc. I have been looking everywhere for Ephemera from the 20's thru the 50's, but it's really hard. I am still kind of new to this kind of stuff so maybe I just have not learned where to find it yet. I also love vampire related anything, vintage pin-ups, the macabre, Halloween, the mythical, Greek gods, political memorabilia (the older the better--like founding fathers old...quotes, postcards, images of Washington D.C., anything in general)...

Tunes That Make Me Croon

There isn't much musically I don't enjoy. I like everything from Marilyn Manson to Yo-Yo Ma. Does that make me weird? Ok, I am kind of weird, but in a good way. I love singing in the car so it helps that I enjoy just about everything. I'm not ashamed to say I know almost all the words to most Kelly Clarkson's songs, too. I love The Ramones, Duran Duran, Violent Femmes...just to name a few old school bands. If I had to choose, I would categorize myself under Alternative music. It would have to be my most favorite "favoritist" music of all, but I do so adore Hair bands--a side effect of growing up in the 80's, I suppose. I also love The Doors and all those bands from the 60's and 70's that had really interesting and poetic lyrics.

Flick Picks!

Of all time? RUSH, Passion of the Christ, The Island, Bandits, Titanic, The Dreamers, Pirates of Penzantz, Moulan Rouge, Grease, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Happy Feet once until the 337th time my son watched it.

Boob Tube

Loving Mad Men, Brothers&Sisters, Glee, House, & Grey's Anatomy!

Wishlist

Anything Vintage!, ephemera, oldies, but goodies, unique, black and white, sepia colored, tattered, torn, real or faux ephemera items.

All things Twilight--especially Edward!

Anything Vampire

Literature in other languages especially when it's in an interesting font.

Things that are Gothic, whimsical, Celtic, viking, Victorian, fairytale, medieval, , religious, vampiric, political, vintage pin-ups (I am not offended easily).

Bits - gears, sprockets, clock faces, glass, plastic, paper, wood, watch innards, marbles, buttons, flower's, skulls and cross bones, keys, broken jewelry, coins...

Pretty Napkins! And pretty patterned paper!

Rubber stamps/Chipboard/pictures of owls, birds, and butterflies, dragonflies, birds, bird eggs...any kind all sizes and colors.

Textured paper - handmade, embossed, different types of fabric paper, metallic, foil, linen, jewel toned, velvety, silky, lumpy, bumpy, woven, etc.

DISLIKES: Citrus scented perfumes, receiving items that stink of cigarette smoke, pastel colors are my least favorite (but if they are mixed with other colors they are great), I do not care for fast food themed anything, precious moments, Sesame Street...

I detest people who mistreat other swappers. I have come across a couple people here lately that have an obvious chip on their shoulder. They apparently get enjoyment out of lording their little bit of power over their partners and finding any obscure reason they can to ruin their rating and denying them the opportunity to resend swaps. I am a very forgiving swapper. I am thrilled just to receive my swaps and I would never rate someone badly over a late swap. Some of the best swaps I have received were months past the deadline. I just can't imagine destroying someone's rating in one fell swoop without at least giving them a chance to redeem themselves and I would never publicly humiliate another swapper via the comment section of their profile. SwapBot should be a fun experience. But after a couple of past incidents myself and some other swappers are half terrified every time they check their rating that some unreasonable, unmerciful partner will have destroyed all their hard work.

Me and all my craftiness...

I am mostly experienced in scrapbooking, but I have gotten over most of my intimidation of other crafts and added jewelry making, altering lots of things, polymer clay, & painting to my repertoire .

My Family

My husband, Harry, will be 50 next May. He has been a Senior Chief in the US Coast Guard for over 28 years. He loves Sci-fi/Fantasy books. His favorite authors are Jim Butcher & Terry Brooks. His favorite color is green, he is an L/XL is t-shirts. His hobbies are making gaming websites, playing video games, going to the movies, reading, writing poetry and fantasy stories. LOVES Reese's Peanut Butter cups and snickers bars. Dislikes: Romance books in any form, country music, Brussels sprouts, gum drops, coconut, and socialist views.

My Son, Connor is almost 2 years old. His birthday is May 12, 2008. He loves Curious George, elephants, and ducks. He loves reading his books--any and all books, coloring and drawing (i.e. scribbling), and playing outside. He loves listening to childrens' music. His favorite foods are animal crackers, cheese, grapes, cashews, french toast, gumballs, dumdums, and M&M's. He also loves laughing and rough housing, playing in the rain, running repeatedly into puddles, climbing, and bath time. He's a size 2t, and looks adorable in most hats/caps. Fave color is orange. Dislikes: Meat, lettuce, being alone, being told NO, and sleeping past 6am.

Mission Statement

I promise to never flake on any swap. There would have to be extreme extenuating circumstances for me to miss a deadline, much less not send my items at all. If for some reason you do not receive my swap items or do not feel they met the swap requirements...PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I promise to always rate anyone who sends me items. I promise to do my best to make all the items I send special and well thought out.

The pendants are beautiful ~ thanks for making them! I have lots of beads in those colors so I am making bead necklaces to hang them on. I also love the box you put them in!

Comment: What a great collection of stamps, thank you. I keep looking at the chandeliers and the button lady. I don't know why, maybe a brain cramp, but I sent all of mine on bigger sheets rather than cutting them to a smaller size. And thank you for hosting!

I just read your profile and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who sees swappers giving 3s and 1s just to abuse the little bit of "power" they have. I just got rated a 3 on a journal swap but the swapper didn't even tell me she wasn't happy. She said it was horrible. But I put a lot of hard work into it. I think it was because she just didn't like what I journaled about - we have different likes/dislikes. Either way, it was very disappointing and now my rating is ruined. :(
