3/13/22 - Life is chaotic and busy in the moment, but I'll jump back into swapping once things settle down! :)
Hello! I love mail - writing, sending, and receiving! I've always been a hoarder of stationery, stickers, and more recently washi tape, and I love having a reason to use them and send some joy to someone else!
I do go by the same name on Postcrossing, and have a handful of penpals scattered around. Always looking for new reasons and ways to send some fun mail out!
As for my interests, I love horses, cats, bright colors and nerdy things. I'm a big fan of board games & video games, concerts and medieval events. I try to keep busy when I can! I also love doing arts and crafts and gardening or exploring nature! And I can't resist jigsaw puzzles and escape rooms.
I have two horses (draft cross siblings), a cat, and some chickens. A little menagerie!
Please note - I usually mail things via my home mailbox, so items may be postmarked a day after I hit "Sent" depending on mailman pickup.
I am all about electronica and rock. I have a propensity for finding bands that dress like robots or involve robots in some way, shape, or form.
The Protomen are at the top of my list. Daft Punk, RΓΆyksopp, Bit Brigade, Anamanaguchi, Depeche Mode, Monarchy, TWRP, Starcadian... and the list of somewhat odd bands goes on and on.
And nothing beats live music!
I've always been mainly into fantasy books, but I branch out now and then into thrillers and mystery or anything that comes highly recommended. I'm probably more likely to listen to an audiobook than pick up a physical or e-book these days, for time reasons - I can clean the house while listening to an audiobook!
Favorite authors include Mercedes Lackey, Kate Elliot, and Jim Butcher, amongst others.
My favorite non-fantasy book is hands down The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.
Some of the most impactful from childhood onwards were the His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman.
Stargate is at the top - I saw it as a child and absolutely loved it. It helped push my interest in Egyptian mythology.
Black Beauty, the 1994 version, because I love horses. Even though it makes me absolutely sob. What a beautiful tribute to the equine species...
Arrival - this one just blew me away. The less you know about it, going in, the better.
I'm terrible at keeping up with TV series. Getting me to sit down and watch episodes of things is difficult. That being said...
Stargate! SG-1 and parts of Atlantis. I'd loved the movie forever, and finally at the start of the pandemic dove into the series. What an incredible show and fantastic cast!
The Witcher - I still need to read the books, and I've only seen bits of the games being played, but I'm enjoying it!
His Dark Materials - I am so glad that HBO is doing this books-to-series justice! Really enjoyed it so far.
I have a lot of crafty hobbies!
Beading - dangly things, sparkly things... some jewelry, some decor. I have so many supplies and should probably use them...
Candlemaking - I love working with wax and making fun, colorful, nice smelling candles! I especially love making treasure candles with little hidden trinkets n' such inside.
Resin - a newer hobby, but one I'm enjoying! I like being able to make all sorts of little things that I can then use in other crafts...
Papercrafts - Handmaking postcards, decorating envelopes, covering things in stickers... I'm here for it! The latest experiments have been with distress inks.
I more or less collect and appreciate anything that fits the following themes:
I tend to avoid the following themes and things...
