I love kitsch, mid-century modern, 1950s ephemera, pillows, gardening, giant dogs, and home decor. Nutty for Elle Decor and Domino mags.

Favorite colors: Oh, anything, but like orange an awful lot--perhaps too much! Yellows, blue/greens, mint green, lavender. I drive a luna green Beetle--love that the color reminds me of kitchen appliances from the 1950s. I love 50s architecture and decor though I do not love the "Grease" type of stuff--no poodle skirts! : )

If it's weird, if it's old, I like.

Not religious in the LEAST--do not practice anything! Do have a soft spot for old Catholic knick-knack type stuff like Infant of Prague statues or votive lights.

I am really seriously nutty for squirrel stuff right now. Why? I don't rightly know!

Love to garden. Love to decorate our house. Love it if it's old and weird. Not unlike myself.

I really love Mexican oilcloth lately, too! Need to get on the ball to make a pillow for our hammock.

Oh, and I'm a writer who tends to ramble on a bit, too.

Too much to cover here, but I'll try to give you an overview. I am nutty for Christmas music, but not very into recent releases, though I do have a soft spot for the electronica/lounge/chillout-type of Christmas music. I really like unintentionally tacky Christmas music--I'm not talking "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," I'm talking "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle."

I like really old, early jazz (think Wynonie Harris, Ella Mae Morse, Sister Rosetta Tharpe), alt-country (Lucinda Williams), singer-songwriters (Ani Di Franco, Melissa Ferrick), rocky, spare alternative (Wussy, the Ass Ponys, The National), and I reserve an entire selection for The Mountain Goats alone. I love old R&B, some old funk, early girl groups from the '60s, newer alternative groups like The Heartless Bastards and Minus the Bear. Well, the list goes on. I don't like everything and I rarely listen to Top 40, though I confess that "Irreplaceable" I find quite hummable. I also like Madonna!

Shaun of the Dead, Diva, Magnolia, The Big Lebowski spring immediately to mind. I love scary movies but find that precious few of them are worth my time. I really like The Ring for scariness. I'm not into gore.

Lost, Weeds, Mr. Show, Scrubs

I am a mix CD queen and in fact send out a song a week to selected friends of mine. I love creating and sending music mixes and love getting them in return. I have made candles and I have written poetry that I turned into mini pieces of art using found objects as collages. I like making pillows and am just getting into re-creating clothing--adding cuffs or taking stuff apart to piece together into something new. I love anything to do with gardens and our old garden had a lot of fun weirdness in it like vines growing on old metal dress forms. Alas, we've recently moved so my yard is once again a blank slate.
