Hello from Wisconsin! We are known for beer & brats, cheese in every variety, the Green Bay Packers, the WI Badgers, country music festivals, WI Dells, farming, and Friday night fish fries. I live in a small town near the state line between WI and IL. I retired from teaching in 2014, after 33 years dedicated to students with special needs. In late summer of 2014, we got the devastating news that my DH of 28 yrs had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I lost him on Easter Sunday. To cope with the grief and loneliness, I renewed my love for crafting and it has been good therapy for me. I have a grown daughter, Heather, age 26, with no grands in sight. Some of my favorite things are: the colors pink and blue, paper crafting, learning new crafting techniques, taking pictures, journaling, baking, gardening, thrifting, reading, listening to music, (country), and spending time with my pets...4 cats and 1 dog. I love social media, esp Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram .
Themes I like: Woodland animals, anything related to botanicals, flowers/floral designs, bird art, combining paper and fabric, pink and gold combinations, field guides related to nature, hearts, dogs-esp. Beagles, Russian Blue cats, ( and all breeds of cats), animal lover in general, postage stamps, mail art, collage, camera graphics, reading/books/print, vintage inspired, lace trim, French Postal-script/icons, mason jars, cupcakes/sweets, butterflies, birds, (esp. hummingbirds, cardinals, and goldfinches) Tim Holtz style, baking/recipes, mixed media.
Things I'd Like to Receive: Address labels with a simple logo like a flower, bird, butterfly, or kitty, used postage stamps, old playing cards and postcards, snippets of fabric, lace, embroidery, ribbon, or textiles, old music paper, fun pens/stationery, vintage or vintage inspired images, memorabilia, tickets, napkins for decoupage, charms, textured paper, simple recipes, quotes, old book pages/ephemera for junk journals, positive/inspirational messages, handmade envies, book recommendations. I'll love anything you send, because it came from the heart.
I enjoy talking, listening, and writing about books and authors. I'm excited to follow the Great American Read and the list of the top 100 favorite novels. Which book will win? I have a pretty wide range of reading interests. I like both fiction and non-fiction, but mostly read fiction. My favorite genre is historical fiction, with these oldies but goodies in my favorites list: Gone With the Wind, Little Women, To Kill a Mockingbird, My Antonia, and The Hiding Place. I also love the mystery/suspense/thriller genre, true crime etc....the last great book I read was The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. (Highly recommend) And lastly, I love biographies and memoirs. . Recently started journaling about reading. I like to listen to podcasts that talk about books/authors. I'm the nerd that watches C-span Book T.V. (sshhhh)🤓 and I recently discovered Book Tube.
