About Me

Mom. Writer. Optimist. Quote Collector. Book Obsessed.

A Few Things:

  • I read 1-2 books a week. Paper, kindle, iBooks, audio books. I'm always reading. PM me for private book swaps if you're interested in trading reads.
  • I always try to reuse packaging and paper and send gently well loved books before I purchase new packing materials, writing paper, and books. Though repurposed, I always try to be thoughtful and neat.
  • I welcome your Christian themed cards, books, letters, gifts, etc.
  • When in doubt, send books or anything book/literary related and I'm a happy girl!
  • My top 3 book genres are self help/productivity, dystopian (classics like 1984 and the new stuff, think Hunger Games), and christian lifestyle.

I read everything, though, from romance, espionage, biographies, classical and dystopian fiction to self help, history, and books of quotes. I'm not a fan of mystery or horror. Sending a book you've enjoyed is always a good way to go! I love receiving books and reading recommendations in general and even if they aren't my cup of tea, I'm always thrilled to have a wide variety to share and swap with others.

My one little word (aliedwards.com) for 2018 is: Gentle

I'm currently reading 'Hallelujah Anyway' by Anne Lamott

I just finished 'Hillbilly Elegy' by JD Vance

I just ordered 'We're Going to Need More Wine' by Gabrielle Union

And the last book I received as a gift or swap was Richard Paul Evan's 'The Christmas Box'

Right now I'm drinking a lot mint teas and chamomile teas, two of my favorites, but I do enjoy trying something new every now and then, especially teas in pretty and unique packaging. I'm not a big fan of plain black or fruity teas.

I am convinced that Football Season and Christmas are indisputably the most wonderful times of the year. It's all about the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and I'm one happy girl with gingerbread, pumpkin, and peppermint bark as I celebrate the wonder and grace of Jesus' birth.

I believe kindness cures a lot of what ails us and I think the mixed media artists Kelly Rae Roberts and Colleen Attara express this sentiment beautifully in their works.

I often visit libraries and tea rooms when I travel and I can spend hours in any bookstore. I collect ornaments from wherever my travels take me .

FAVORITE MOVIES: Original Star Wars Trilogy, The Princess Bride, The Holiday, and most James Bond Movies.

FAVORITE SONGS: "Celebrate Me Home" by Kenny Loggins, "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt, "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn.

FAVORITE TV SHOWS: Alias, Frasier, Once Upon a Time, Downton Abbey, Scandal, Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives'

FAVORITE FOODS: Pancakes, Grits, Cornbread, Oatmeal raisin cookies, Chili, Strawberry Lemonade, most Thai and Filipino foods. Candy/snack favorites are Popcorn, Twizzlers, York Peppermint Patties, Dinner mints (the puffy melt in your mouth kind) and pretty much anything with chocolate and caramel but prefer it with no nuts.

FAVORITE DRINKS: Starbucks' Iced Chai Lattes, Cafe du Monde's Cafe au lait, and Strawberry Lemonade

FAVORITES FOR GIFT CARD SWAPS: Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Sephora, Starbucks, Panera, LUSH, Michaels, Amazon, and Target.

FAVORITE THEMES: Books/Reading, Thankfulness & Gratitude, Joy, Tea, Vintage Bicycles, Vintage Typewriters, Houndstooth, Flowers, Optimism, University of Alabama Crimson Tide, Postal/Airmail, Libraries, Literary.

SWAP FAVORITES * Pretty much anything related to reading, books, and libraries' * Books * Bookmarks (especially mini magnetic book markers and corner bookmarks) * Notecards/Stationary * Gift Cards (see gift card swap favorites) * More Books * Tea (lovin' Might Leaf's Citrus Chamomile right now) * Anything from artists/online stores: Colleen Attara, Kelly Rae Roberts, The Love Letter Library, or Ali Edwards * Tote Bags (especially Library/Literary Totes)
* Again more books (my top 3 wishes:)
1. Louder Than Words by Todd Henry
2. The Inspired Room by Melissa Michaels
3. Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

My newest obsessions: Mini magnetic book markers and corner bookmarks!!

I do not care for:

  • Black, lemon, or fruity teas
  • Horror, suspense, or mystery books
  • Coloring books
  • Peanut butter, licorice, or coconut flavors
  • Anything offensive
  • Cartoon or reward stickers
  • Fairies or Kawaii
  • Diddl or Hello Kitty
  • Skulls

Celebrate what you want to see more of. ~Tom Peters

Happy Swapping!

reader44ever on Mar 17, 2017:

Hi Sharhonda! Thank you ever so much for your lovely thank you card about the "goof-off-day" swap. And it's so funny that you mentioned laughing a bit over my mention of library books that can't be renewed...

Yesterday, when getting ready to leave the house to go to the library and on other errands, I logged into my library account to renew the books that were due the 16th and see what all was ready for pick up (if anything)...

One of the books that was due yesterday turned out to be a book I had checked out three weeks ago, and it was one of the "Express Reads" that could only be checked out once, no renewals allowed...

Well, had you asked me, I would have said that I checked that book out LAST Thursday! Finding out I'd had it for three weeks? That was a shock! lol ;-)

Also, that's neat that you used to live in Tucson! (Did I know that? I'm sorry, I have an AWFUL memory!) And I love that you were a patron of the Dusenberry-River branch library. :-) I myself go most often to Nanini. Both are north of Tucson downtown and I've been to the Dusenberry-River Library several times. It's a neat branch, tucked into that corner of that shopping center the way it is! :-)

Anyway, thank you for a lovely reply to my letter!!!

And Happy Reading to you, too!!! :-)
