UPDATE: I just updated my profile to show my name, instead of a nickname. I'm Joyce, (I was going by Jo) Happy to meet you! I live in Lakewood, Colorado, West of Denver along the foothills. I work for an aerospace engineering company. I makeup treasure hunts for my 6yo grandson sometimes with rhymes, sometimes just clues. I have 3 adult children. I love travel, planning is at least 1/2 of the fun for me. My favorite place is Buchart Gardens on Vancouver Island and anywhere with an ocean!. My husband and I travel with a 5th wheel trailer. We go to the mountains, and to Kansas to visit family when we can't get away for longer trips. I'm a certified garden consultant, and enjoy starting seeds indoors for spring planting, and love my herb garden.
Country, Rock, some Classic. No to call in talk shows, but I am hooked on NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, Lost, Hero's, Burn Notice, and I love the Dog Whisperer.
I see this as a way to stretch my drawing and creative side.
Having parameters and a deadline makes the drawing more fun and I'm more able to concentrate, because I know I have to get in the "Zone".
I have worked through "Drawing on the Right side of the brain" so that I could do a nature journal on a trip to Alaska. I enjoy realistic drawing, but try many different things. I have done counted cross stitch, a little crochet, painting figurines, ceramics. I love drawing from nature, botanical items especially, since animals tend to move away, I usually take a picture of an animal and draw some of the details and textures so I can work on it later. Working from good black and white or color photos works well for me, since I can get the details just the way I want. I enjoy doing portraits. I do most of my drawing in graphite and add color with water color. I look forward to doing some other techniques here.
Water colors, muted to bright. Black with bright colors Orange, peach colors, Blues, Purple & teal quotes famous or obscure. Chocolate mints Dogs, Poodles (yes, I know poodles are dogs, but he was special ; ) cats black and white photography
To Kill a Mockingbird, probably my favorite book or movie. Diana Gabaldon Outlander series, Historical Novels, Mysteries.
