Updated 9/8/14. I haven't been in any swaps for a couple of years. I'm back!!! I live on the north Oregon Coast with my father. He celebrated his 90th birthday this past spring, and I do what I can to make his life as comfortable as possible. I have lived with him for several years. I don't work outside the home, so I have plenty of time for my sewing, beading, quilting and any other little crafty thing that catches my interest.
I'm a big fan of SciFi/Fantasy. Favorite authors include Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCafferry, Katherine Kurtz. And I can barely wait till Dianna Gabaldon's next Outlander book is released.
And then on the non-fiction side-- anything having to do with beading or crazy quilt, embellishment, ethnic embroidery or clothing design/construction.
Eclectic mix---romantic comedies, scifi/fantasy, action/adventure such as- Bed of Roses, Serenity, Must Love Dogs, Chronicles of Riddick, anything with Johnny Dep in it...
Beadwork is my passion, and embellished crazy quilting is second on my list of fun things. I have mastered a variety of off-loom beadweaving stitches. I like to make bracelets mostly when making jewelry. I also like making beaded objects. I also quilt, crochet, embroider, paint and sew. I've been doing alot of sewing lately...turning my silk sari accumulation into infinity scarves to sell at local craft fairs, and using a fraction of my hoard of buttons in brooches. I have also been dabbling with mixed media art, bookbinding, and altering books and bottles and boxes.
Current favorites include: Haven, Grimm, Revolution, Defiance, Sleepy Hollow, The Blacklist, White Collar, Rizzoli and Isles, Castle, NCIS in all its permutations, CSI...yes I do indeed watch too much television.
I have a big grey cat named Max. I bead, sew, quilt, do mixed media art, enjoy art journaling, and have a small hobby kiln I'm working on getting set up.
COLORS--blues and greens, think sea and sky. BEADS-almost anything, especially faceted glass, silver colored metal, pearls and shell. BUTTONS- MOP, vintage brass, glass of any vintage, stone, beaded. FIBERS-pearl cottons and floss weight threads, tiny organza and silk ribbons, variagated crochet weight cotton and silk threads. FABRICS-batik, ikat, jacquard, silks, velvets, embroidered fabrics. Other things-vintage hankies, little bottles that would look good covered in beads, dark, dark, dark chocolate, spice blends for curries. Fragrances-musky, woodsy, vanilla, "clean linens"
Plastic beads, plastic buttons, most synthetic fabrics, although I do like ultrasuede ;-> syrupy sweet or religious sentiments Biggest dislike is poorly made items sent in swaps. Hmmm, looks like I like more than I dislike. Well, that's as it should be.
