About Me

-SPOILER- I post pictures of recent swaps on Instagram. Usually shortly before or after I send it off. Flickr will be updated from time to time. -SPOILER-

My name is Monique and I'm from Germany.

I've always liked to receive letters. And I also like the idea of random act of kindness. Swap-bot seems to be the connection of both things. :) These days I enjoy creating mail art like postcards.

Favorite Crafts

I try to do a lot of things. After a while I always have to try something new. Latest interests are handmade postcards, Pocket Letters and Zentangling.

  • Crocheting
  • Knitting
  • Working with paper
  • A little bit of poor drawing
  • Some sewing

Favorite Music

Alternative, Indie, Garage, a bit Folk, 50s Rock'n'Roll/Rockabilly...

To name a few (often changing): Temples, Kasabian, Katzenjammer, Florence + the Machine, Hot Boogie Chillun, Public Service Broadcasting...

And I would be glad if you could recommend me something.

Favorite Television

I'm not a movie fan, instead I love TV Series even more!

Pushing Daisies, Sherlock, White Collar, Grimm, Rizzoli & Isles, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Doctor Who, Burn Notice, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Perception...

Lately I'm starting in classic series: The Avengers (Peel & Steed!), The Persuaders!...

Some ideas for sending: ~I don't collect anything but I like surprises!~ fabric - buttons - patterns for small crochet/knitting projects - handmade things - "consumable" things for crafting e.g. paper, washi, ephemera... everything that I could use for creating mail art (as I don't have enough space for dust traps :)) (or just ask)

I don't like

jewellery - dogs - decorative cosmetics - Disney - Emojis - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance - Manga - off-season Christmas (I'm starting slowly to care about one month before, at the earliest) also not overly excited about Halloween

Teas I love: green (plain or + herbs...) - white - herbal - with lemon and ginger - fresh tastes in general ... (no matter if it comes in bags or if it's loose- as long as it's sealed)

I'd like to try again: Four O'clock - Green tea with rose

Teas I don't like: all fruity or sweet teas (apple, hibiscus, rose hip, berries...) - vanilla - black tea - cinnamon - instand tea - honey - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance

Comment: Your wonderful mailart has arrived! I like what you created with the circles, inside and out... I wish I had remembered to art up my envelopes, I did several experiments to see what would work on the vellum, oh well! Thanks so much for resending, your envelope is on my table next to my envelope going to you, for the OMAEr ak attack..!
Response: Thank you, I'm glad that it made it this time! Let's see when I will pull out the vellum again to craft with. Oh, envelope anticipation! :)

Comment: Thank you so much. Assuming there were two googly eyes, one was wandering and the other must of slipped out the postage stamp area, even though the envelope was still sealed. Lol
Response: Magic owl power! I'm sorry that not both eyes survived the travel. But one eye googly and the other closed must be cool also. You can find the "whole" card on my instagram.
Comment: Beautiful! Thank you!
Response: You're welcome, thank you! I'm glad that you like the vellum experiments.
Comment: Hi Monique, It finally arrived :-), Three times is the charm :-). I got the PC, other two never arrived. Thanks

Comment: Thank you for the swap, glad the re-send made it, pretty colors, too!
Response: My pleasure, thank you! I had fun working with the bright colours.

Comment: Your “model” did arrive today and she is looking lovely. Great postcard, thanks! I think I haven’t made things with papier maché since my schooldays, a long long time ago... it must have been fun. Hope to see you soon in another postcard-swap. Hugs 💌
Response: You're welcome! Doesn't she look way to happy for a model? :) I'm thinking of using papier maché in a postcard. But I'm unsure how...

Comment: This swap was an especially fun one and I love what you did with it. Thank you so much. The painting workshop you attended sounds great, always nice to receive a swap from you. It was in perfect condition and the tomato was there. Glad you explained the saying.
Response: You're welcome, thank you! Fun fact for this card (I hope that the tomato is still on the card). We have a saying here which would translate as -to have tomatoes on the eyes- which means not to see obvious things.
Comment: Thanks for the diamond motif PC with nice texture & stitching. I got into using geometrical shapes for a while but it was one of those phases that fell by the wayside. Maybe your card will inspire me! The painting workshop sounds fun. Painting's not my comfort zone either, but it's always good to explore new techniques.
Response: There is a time for everything! The theme will pick you when the time is ready. Well at least what I've sometimes experienced :) The workshop was so interesting, I will take a next one soon!
Comment: thank you for the lovely postcard
Response: My pleasure, thank you! I'm happy that you got those algae bit.

Comment: Thank you so much for the awesome space envelope! So fun! I love seeing the constellation names auf Deutsch! I am also not a fan of fall (or winter for that matter!!) but the dark skies make stargazing nice! Thank you for the adorable postcards - the pigeons are too funny!! Thank you for joining the swap!!!!!
Response: It took the direct way to you, great! :) I was so lucky that I found the astronaut picture in a magazin to make the picture complete. Next time maybe with a carrier pigeon on it. :)
Comment: Thanks for the wonderful abstract collage. And your self-filliing scrap box sounds familiar. Hope you enjoyed the painting workshop!
Response: You're welcome! Yes the workshop was great. We got a step by step instruction and everybody ended up with a representable picture.

Comment: What a beautiful postcard! So nicely designed and I love torn edges on paper too. Thank you Monique!
Response: My pleasure, thank you! It was so fun working with the vintage botanical image.
Comment: Thank you for the fun collage postcard. We were taught the William Tell story in school, so I understand the image. I love the eyes and the grin. :)
Response: My pleasure, thank you! Now I think I should also have added an arrow to complete the card. But I guess it's good like it is. :)

Thank you so much for the adorable flamingo post card!! The pink & blue & black background is perfect for this magnificent pink bird! It’s going up on the wall above my craft desk so I can see it every time I sit and craft! Huge hugs to you, Monique! 💜

Your wonderful postcard for the OMAE rak attack (August) arrived today! I love the colors and the old German book page clouds! I don't even miss the glitter... not everything needs glitter, wink wink! Hope the budgies have settled in together... My German grandmother and her sister always had budgies..!
