About Me

-SPOILER- I post pictures of recent swaps on Instagram. Usually shortly before or after I send it off. Flickr will be updated from time to time. -SPOILER-

My name is Monique and I'm from Germany.

I've always liked to receive letters. And I also like the idea of random act of kindness. Swap-bot seems to be the connection of both things. :) These days I enjoy creating mail art like postcards.

Favorite Crafts

I try to do a lot of things. After a while I always have to try something new. Latest interests are handmade postcards, Pocket Letters and Zentangling.

  • Crocheting
  • Knitting
  • Working with paper
  • A little bit of poor drawing
  • Some sewing

Favorite Music

Alternative, Indie, Garage, a bit Folk, 50s Rock'n'Roll/Rockabilly...

To name a few (often changing): Temples, Kasabian, Katzenjammer, Florence + the Machine, Hot Boogie Chillun, Public Service Broadcasting...

And I would be glad if you could recommend me something.

Favorite Television

I'm not a movie fan, instead I love TV Series even more!

Pushing Daisies, Sherlock, White Collar, Grimm, Rizzoli & Isles, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Doctor Who, Burn Notice, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Perception, Agatha Raisin...

Lately I'm starting in classic series: The Avengers (Peel & Steed!), The Persuaders!...

Some ideas for sending: ~I don't collect anything but I like surprises!~ fabric - buttons - patterns for small crochet/knitting projects - handmade things - "consumable" things for crafting e.g. paper, washi, ephemera... everything that I could use for creating mail art (as I don't have enough space for dust traps :)) (or just ask)

I don't like

jewellery - dogs - decorative cosmetics - Disney - Emojis - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance - Manga - off-season Christmas (I'm starting slowly to care about one month before, at the earliest) also not overly excited about Halloween

Teas I love: green (plain or + herbs...) - white - herbal - with lemon and ginger - fresh tastes in general ... (no matter if it comes in bags or if it's loose- as long as it's sealed)

I'd like to try again: Four O'clock - Green tea with rose

Comment: Great postcard!.. Love it! Yes I saw your participation in the ‘februllage challenge’ on instagram. One more week to go, yess you can...💪 Here in Belgium we can’t speak of a real winter either, so your winter themed postcard makes it all good. Have a great weekend⭐️⭐️⭐️
Response: I'm glad that the deer girl arrived quickly. Oh, I cheated a bit with the challenge. I made a little preproduction, all pieces are ready now. Time for doing something else. Like trying the bubble painting again this weekend for instance. :)

Lady rated for PnS: Not Store-bought DIY Postcard on Feb 5, 2020
Comment: I like the idea of vellum but I think tissue paper works better in collage for a similar -ish look. What collage challenge are you considering? I only found one, from kolaj magazine... but the first prompt seemed extra challenging! http://kolajmagazine.com/content/content/collage-events/februllage-2020/
Response: I think you're right about the tissue paper, maybe even sandwich paper! These papers act more like real paper than vellum. Yes, it's the challenge mentioned in the link. Till today I'm still going strong and I hope to serve every prompt.. :)
Comment: Hi Monique. Yes, I got your wonderful card. Please forgive me for not rating you more promptly. Happy 2020!
Response: Tahnk you! It's ok, I'm relieved that it arrived well. :)
Comment: 🆃🅷🅰🅽🅺 🆈🅾🆄 for the cool postcard. I love it!

Comment: I think you were right with the butterfly, but I can certainly see both eyes on it! Great work from you, as usual!
Response: My pleasure, thank you! Well, in the end the girl is now gifted with the third eye. :)
Singske rated for HMPC: Circle love - January on Jan 27, 2020
Comment: Your circle love looks great. I love the color combination you used. I still use the advice you gave me for glueing the paper around the edges of the card, it was a good tip. Yours also arrived in perfect condition, no worries. Enjoy yourself in the new collage workshop! 💌
Response: Yay, thank you! I was also surprised how good the limited choice of papers matched. I'm happy that you found a good way of glueing (it's a science for sure!).
Comment: I absolutely adore your hand made postcard- especially the quote "Get up and glow". Your style is one that I'm trying to achieve myself. Thank you for sharing your creativity! XX MM
Response: You're welcome, thank you! It was fun to create. Keep crafting, that's all what matters! :)
Comment: Thank you for your great postcard. I hope your collage workshop will give you more satisfaction this time
Response: It was a pleasure, thank you! Also thank you for my 700 heart!

Response: You're welcome, thank you! It was fun to see how the pieces started to match. All pieces are leftover bits from other cards.

Comment: Hey Monique, your ballerina danced her way to my mailbox. She looks great with the blue background and the copper spotlights. Thanks, and for you too all the best for 2020!⭐️
Response: I'm glad that it arrived savely. I've saved some more ballerina pictures from the same magazine. They make great motives.
Comment: I got the first one!!! Mailed 14/11/19!!! I can’t believe how long it took (almost 2 months!!!). Thank you so much! I love it!

Hi RockyBeach. I got your Handmade Postcard Tag postcard RockyBeach. I like it very much. I love the challenge you made for yourself--make a collage using one magazine. I like your sense of space and layout. I'm honoured that you shared your talent with me.

Thank you for the wonderful handmade postcard RAK. I had a mostly sunny and warm Christmas in Hawaii - my first holiday away from home, but I can't complain. I'm excited to get back to making things!

@Singske made me a really awesome tear book (she sewed hers on the machine--I don't have that skill). That's where I got the idea. ;)

Thank you for the beautiful OMAE handmade PC! Love the color scheme and subject...the bat stamp is so cool! I haven't taken many crafty workshops but I think better to try them once than not at all... Happy Autumn!
