The Sordid Details

I'm an international tour manager, travel agent, wife & mom to a teen, and 2 preschoolers.

I live in the land o'cheese (Wisconsin) though once upon at time I did live in England & return whenever I can. I've spent most of my life as an actress, love travelling the world, love reading, history, dancing & as a kid was a competitive figure skater. I have a need to keep life from being boring.

Favorite Music

I've a professed love of 80s music...Duran Duran being my favourite band of all time. I have a broad taste in music & usually willing to give most things a listen. However, if it has a country "twang" to it or illiterate rap, just keep it to yourself, thanks.

I also adore Broadway musicals. I have spent most of my life performing in the theatre, so anything & everything theatre related!

I used to be a radio DJ. I'm also in love with my iPod!

Favorite Books

All Jane Austen, "Pride & Prejudice" being my favourite, anything by Anne Rice ("Memnoch the Devil" is my favourite). I love love love historical fiction more than anything...particularly Tudor/Elizabethan/Stuart, Regency, Baroque & Civil War. I love satirical, dry comedy (sorry, no bathroom humour here) ala' Wodehouse or Terry Pratchett ("Good Omen" IS the funniest book ever written).

Favorite Movies

"Pride & Prejudice" (BBC 1995 version NOT the 2005 version), "Wizard of Oz", "Sound of Music", "The King's Speech", "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Titus", "Shakespeare in Love", most any Merchant Ivory or other costume period piece! I enjoy romantic comedies, but then I'll take in a Bond film. If its visual appealing, has characters that draw you in, and isn't crazy stupid, I'll probably watch it.

Favorite Crafts

I sew historical costuming. I am learning to enjoy scrapbooking (something I'm VERY new to, therefore don't have much), I draw, paint & take photographs. I tend to be slightly more artsy than crafty, but I'm trying to branch out. I will probably join swaps to make things I've never made before, so feedback & suggestions are always welcome. I've recently gotten into making decorative headbands.

Things to Make Me Happy

Doctor Who!

Holiday items (esp. Halloween & Christmas...but not cheesy cute stuff. I prefer classic, elegant or spooky!)

Beautiful & fun stationary (not a big Kawaii fan, I prefer Disney villians!)

Scrapbooking tools

International surprises (magazines, sweets, etc.)

Materials/papers

art supplies

Customized labels

Anything historical or theatre related

Dr. Who ...or anything related to it.

Ghost Hunting & vampires.

Things That Make Me UNHappy

Clowns! I loate & detest clowns with a passion that cannot be described.

Random scraps of fabric, ribbon or paper. If it's that small, I will never use it.

Precious Moments. Their big eyes are just creepy.

Fruit teas.

I've had alot of people flake on me lately, and I hate having to give bad ratings, but I get so excited about these swps, I hate being disappointed. Please, just contact me!. I'm pretty understanding.

My Preferences

Colors: autumn warm tone colors, pink & brown, teal & lime, blue & brown.

Treats: Chocolate! especially European candies like Raisin & Biscuit Yorkie bars or Mozarts.

Tea: Earl Grey is my favourite. I also love Chai & green tea.

Culinary: I love to cook (British, Middle eastern, Thai, Italian, German & Cajun are some of my favourites). (I love watching "Top Chef".)

Hobbies: reading, acting, dancing, scrapbooking, drawing, ice skating.
I adore Halloween & anything related to it!

Travel: I love learning about the world! I've been to several countries & lived in the UK

Pets: I desperately want a Pug or a Schnauzer.

Culture: I adore the theatre & ballet & museum hopping.

Holidays: I do lots of decorating for Christmas & Halloween. Halloween is my favourite day of the entire year! How can you not love a day dedicated entirely to dressing up in costumes & getting candy? For Christmas, I particularly like blue & white & silver, penguins & snowmen.

TV: I'm a Doctor Who addict, and also love Torchwood & the Sarah Jane Adventures. (David Tennant is my celebrity boyfriend...good thing he looks like my husband!) Project Runway, Top Chef, and Most Haunted are my MUST sees. I tend to watch alot BBC shows. I also like any show related to ghost hunting/hauntings, and travel or architecture shows.

Celebrities: I have a few celebrities who I will simply swoon over & enjoy them on a variety of levels...David Tennant, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Tony Head, Kenneth Brannagh, among others.

My Family

As mentioned earlier I have a teen daughter who plans to be a Chef. She also loves history. My son is a 4-year-old who loves Doctor Who & Star Wars. My other daughter is3 & loves Tinkerbell, Princesses & Doctor Who. My hubby is an architect who focuses mostly on Arts & Craft/craftsman design, halftimber framing, castles & loves "old world" design, history & travel. (And looks just like the 10th Doctor Who.)

Comment: This truly is a very special card. I admire the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, and would love one day to see his creations in person. Thank you also for re-sending, I know it's a pain -- and for your kind words about Poznan, which truly is a great city! :-)
