The Basics: I'm a married SAHM of 3 kids, a cat, and a dog. I love to recycle/upcycle stuff, make things with my hands, wander around thrift shops and secondhand stores, bake, look through the 'free' box at the library for books and magazines, indulge myself with spa stuff that's also good for the environment, buy apples, plan a garden that I probably won't get to plant with Suzy's (the dog) habit of getting into stuff she shouldn't, buy paper stacks and stamps, and tools to make my own stationery, embellishments, and paper dolls, and I collect vintage/retro/shabby chic stuff for my house.
My favorite color is blue but I LOVE pink for some reason, especially if it's sparkly or glittery. I love the beach and dreamy French beach cottage stuff. I have a HUGE love of paper and ephemera, and many stationery elements. Halloween is my favorite holiday but I am starting to love all the holidays just as much as I once did when I was a kid, especially if I get to make decorations and hand make gifts or favors.
I LOVE Kawaii stuff and robots.
Right now I'm collecting older cookbooks, DIY/crafting, household remedies, and art/graphic books, as well as books for children.
I love books and visit the library once a week for all kinds of books in varying themes.
I LOVE ReadyMade magazine!!!
I don't think I've ever met a craft I didn't like. Whether or not I have the skill to make them happen is another story. That's probably why I grab as many old DIY/crafting books and magazines as I can get a hold of and watch the HGTV and DIY network. I try to think "green" as much as possible and would rather re-use or re-purpose something I already have than buy brand new supplies.
I'm a former chef (13 yrs) who is beginning a new career after graduating college - SCARY!!!
I have never stopped loving all things food. I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets, Cake Boss, food competition shows - especially cakes or pastries, food trivia, recipes, cookbooks, and going out to new and interesting places to eat.
I'd love to be able to take a food tour across the U. S. with my foodie best friend. We enjoy trying out frozen yogurt places and strolling around Williams Sonoma while waiting for samples.
Two of my tattoos are of big cupcakes - on my shoulder. The beginning of a "sweets" sleeve.
I know enough conversational French to talk to a 3 year old but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy throwing it in randomly while talking to my best friend, who also has my linguistic skills. I love French country/vintage/chic stuff. I hope to be able to go to France for my 40th birthday. That's 4 years away, maybe I should start saving up some money...
My kids love it when swap bot mail/packages arrive!
16 yr old girl - enjoys reading, listening to music and watching awesome British comedies, she loves animals, music, and "pretty much anything Asian". Her favorite color is baby blue, she's into special f/x (theatre and make up), manga, anime, drawing, writing, and has a gorgeous cat that pines for her whenever she is away, so any kitty goodies will be appreciated.
8 yr old girl - loves to make paper dolls so pretty papers would be great, as well as sequins, rhinestones, buttons, and glitter. Her favorite color is pink and her top size is 7/8 (medium) and pant size is 8 regular. Patches would be an awesome item to send her since she plays rough and usually rips the knees in her jeans!
5 year old boy - total boy, he loves regular trains, planes, automobiles, drawing paper and color pencils, modeling clay, etc. as well as stickers, coloring books or activity pads. His favorite color is blue and his top and pant size are 6.
Please, no mass-produced toys :) but hand-made and gently used toys are more than welcome. My reasons are simple: my kids like to make their own fun up with odds and ends and I am a believer in recycling/upcycling - thank you for considering this :) It's safe to say that 2nd hand clothing are welcome as long as they are not stained or ripped. Missing buttons are easily fixed (my mom's a seamstress). Yes, I do clothe them in brand-new clothing (they're not hobo children lol) but if there's ever anything that has been outgrown or spotted at a thrift store, I'm OK with getting it. Anything that I can't use gets donated to someone else or put in the quilting pile so nothing ever goes to waste.
I can get a little distracted but I do try to rate AS SOON as swap is received, and will contact before giving a 3 or 1. Please allow me the same courtesy because I ALWAYS send my packages.
If I overlook something, or you owe postage on anything I send, please let me know so I can make good on the swap. I don't do things like that intentionally and am very approachable.
Thank you :)
Everything I send comes from a smoke-free home but we do have 2 cats. I keep my supplies and projects properly put away and the felines have never gotten into any of it, but I still wanted to put this disclaimer in here.
I really get disappointed when people don't rate, so please rate me because it lets me know that you got your swap from me and it's general courtesy, you know?
